What's up Nation? Hey Raider Fans, just an idea to think about.
The Eagles are reportedly desperate to get Asante Samuel
off their payroll and are willing to trade him for almost anything! It seems as thou at this point, they'll even take a pack of post it's and a bag of skittles to move him.
The first deal broke because Samuel didn't want to take a pay cut, and Denver didn't want to pay him the 10 mil he's due.
So he, Samuel, is still on the trading block and is a heck of a player.
Would you guys be open to moving Samuel to Oakland? I have a few ideas why he would be willing to come here...
1. DBs under DA flourish! And we all know Samuel is an INT machine!
2. Samuel and Big Sey played together under BeliCheat in New England, so they know a lil about each other.
3. Last but not least...... The Fans! He loves showing out for the Fans! If he thought that "Fly Eagles fly", crap was entertaining, wait till he hears ALL the Colisseum chanting "Raiii-ders! Raiii-ders! Raiii-ders!" and reciting the "Autumn Wind" like school kids reciting the "Pledge of Allegiance"!
All in all, what your guys' thoughts?
Would you wanna bring him here or not?
Props to cdUbs 14 on the sick sig |

We are moving in a direction that seems to be trying to cut down on giant contracts.
I personally would love him but I don't know how wr could pull it off. |

Whoop! Here it is! Finally someone opened a thread about a player that has absolutely NO chance of landing in Oakland. Not only is Samuel exactly the type of free agent McKenzie has said numerous times he has no interest in, being on the wrong side of 30 looking for one last mega-contract, even if McKenzie had one iota of interest in Samuel what part part of the Raiders having less than $3.5M in salary cap room don't we understand?
Is Samuel going to work for $Free.99? or are you suggesting that the Raiders re-work all of contracts that they already just re-worked to attempt to squeeze Samuel in under the cap? Heck, I'm still waiting for more cuts after the draft as the Raiders barely have enough room to sign to a free agent ball boy at this point. _________________ 2013 Mancrush: DT Richardson, OT Joeckel, FS Vaccaro, FS Rambo, WR Dobson, RB Michael, TE McDonald, OT Foketi, WR Swope |

No thanks.
Edit: I would want him only if we gave up like a 6th round pick and he had to restructure his deal. _________________ (MLB)=A's, (NFL)=Raiders, (NBA)= Warriors

Did you ever think that this is just an idea? If the situation presented itself kinda deal? I never said go all in and make the trade did I?
How old are Bartell and Spencer? 30! How old is Samuel? 31! No much difference there.
As far as restructuring contracts, RM will do what he needs to do to make positive roster moves. Samuel has been productive even after signing his mega contract as opposed to some of our mega contract acquisitions.
I simply brought up the idea, like I said before, and just to remind you I'm not saying for RM to do whatever it takes to bring him in.
But if the opportunity presents itself, I'd be all for it. From what I know he's not a locker room cancer or a diva. If anyone else has heard anything different, please bring it up because I don't want to be misinformed.
No I don't think he's gonna work for free.
The original question was
What do you guys think about him? Would you be open to bring him in or not? |

I don't think Samuel would do anything on our defense. He needs a good pass rush to get his picks. We don't have any pass rushers so he wouldn't be able to gamble on jumping routes as much which is what he's good at. _________________ (MLB)=A's, (NFL)=Raiders, (NBA)= Warriors

Bartell and Spencer are working for pennies and even if they don't work out at this moment they are widely regarded as brilliant signings. (In fact all of them are so far) Unless Samuel gets cut, clears waivers, can't find a gig and decides to work for the vet minimum it ain't gonna happen.
Words cannot express how happy I am that the Raiders are not making dumb moves anymore. (even if they don't ultimately pan out) _________________ 2013 Mancrush: DT Richardson, OT Joeckel, FS Vaccaro, FS Rambo, WR Dobson, RB Michael, TE McDonald, OT Foketi, WR Swope |

CB is an overrated position. We need to focus on other areas significantly more prior to worrying about another CB. _________________

Call me crazy but i feel pretty good about having a secondary specialist as a coach and Bartell, Spencer, DVD, Chekwa and whoever emerges for the 5th CB between Lee, Underwood and a probable draft pick. DVD and Chekwa both are gonna be solid players and Spencer and Bartell both have a show and prove opportunity. We're gonna be hungry in the defensive backfield this year. _________________

Sorry man, but this topic is pointless.
He has a 10M salary and we have under 1M salary cap without the Tyvon long term deal...what are we talkin about??
Oh If they trade him for a 6th rounder and he is willing to play on vet minimum for us....then hell yeah !! _________________ WIN LOSE OR TIE...RAIDER FAN 'TIL I DIE!!
