*Asante Samuel traded to Tampa Bay for: Round 3 pick 68 overall

*Eagles trade: Round 1 (15) and round 3 [88]
Arizona Trades: Round 1 (13)

Draft

Round 1 (13) Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State
Eagles move up two spots to leap-frog Dallas and get their guy.

Round 2 (46) Bobby Wagner, LB, Utah State
Eagles will try him out at SAM, but his best position may ultimately be WLB. I think has a little Lance Briggs to his game, but he should be able to hold down SAM since we don't really ask our strong backer to rush the passer like Denver and the position is currently a bigger weakness than wlb, imo.

*Round 2 (51) This pick is traded to Miami for Round 3 picks (72) and (73) overall since nobody Howie is crazy about is here and he would rather own the early 3rd.

Round 3 [68] Mike Martin, DT, Michigan
Mike Martin gives us a run stuffer who can help right away in short yardage situations and not hurt us in obvious passing situations until he refines that aspect of his game. Even if never becomes a pass rush threat inside- which he has the athleticism to eventually become if he hits his max potential, he should at the least gives us a solid 2 down DT for the next 4 or more years. He seems like a great NT for the wide-9 and great compliment to Fletcher down the line. It's a DT double-dip for the future... and the present.

Round 3 (72) Greg Childs, WR, Arkansas
The injury history doesn't turn Andy off. It intrigues him. And he also likes Child's size, natural catching motion, and athletcism. His skills translate well to what we ask our slot WR to do. He can run all the routes Avant can and has the potential to be a Colston type #1 down the road. He also has a helluva bod and would do justice to our jerseys. Seems fairly intelligent too.

Round 3 (73) Brandon Brooks, G, Miami of Ohio
This guy will remind Andy of Shawn Andrews and he nearly chokes on his Greg Childs celebratory cheese steak when he notices Brooks still on the board. He will start out as a guard but Andy will groom him to become Todd's eventual replacement at RT once Andy deems him too old. Until then, he is a fantastic back-up guard who will probably be an upgrade over Mathis or Watkins in a year or two.

Round 4 (114) Antonio Allen, S, South Carolina
Could be the 2nd best safety in this class. I don't think he has a very high ceiling or crazy potential, but he should be better than what he have and at the very least compete for the starting gig at SS down the line and be a good st player right away.

Round 5 (153) Keith Tandy, CB, West Virginia

Round 6 (172) Danny Trevathan, OLB, Kentucky

Round 6 (194) Bryan Anger, P, Cal

Round 6 (200) Taylor Thompson, TE, Southern Methodist

I'm kind of meh on this one, I like Fletcher Cox, but I doubt we need to spend a 3rd to move up 2 spots. I don't think we need to add 2 DT's.

Rest is okay I guess. Isn't Brooks a mammoth? I doubt he's on Mudds radar.

As soon as I saw we're trading up I firmly desided I hated it.

Agreed. The only way i want to trade up is if one of the big names starts to slide back some, and even then I'm still meh about it.
