Falcons and Eagles are getting close to a deal that would send CB Asante Samuel to Atlanta for a late-round pick.

Last season the Lions agreed to an exchange that would send the Eagles two second-day draft picks for Samuel but the deal fall apart in the final stages, the Eagles are now trading Samuel to the Falcons for a late round pick.

The two big problems with Samuel this season is that he is now 31 years old and he's owed a $9.4 million base salary which means he needs to re-do his deal.

Samuel's new deal would not add additional years to his contract but will alter his remaining salaries. He's excited for deal to be done

That should make some Falcon fans happy after a pretty quiet offseason.

If he's re-working his contract, I'd have wanted the Titans to give up a late pick for him...

Titans will be a better team than the Falcons this year with Britt back and Locker getting more time.

I would not consider the coaching staff to be better, nor the offense better by that much...

The biggest issues this past season are going to be resolved (Britt back; Hass not starting; Amano / Harris / Scott the revolving doors dissolved largely).

On paper, the Falcons look better, but I think that people are sleeping on the Titans. Not to mention their division would be easier (Texans vs Saints + Panthers).

If they can, they should cut Dunta.

Yes, and it does. We really thought this off season would be a big one seeing as we don't have mayn picks so we'd be much more free agent friendly. We signed a G who will likely start at RG in Manuwai who is solid might I add. Also a MLB in Tatupu who will mentor and compete for the starting job against Akeem Dent. And we re-signed most of our FA. We also lost VanGorder and got Nolan, who is a very good DC. His system is favorable to the defensive backs so I think that definitely had something to do with Grimes signing and getting Samuel

I wonder if this means Dunta Robinson is on his way out?

Solid move by the Falcons. Let's see if Samuel is the player they need to take that next step.

Good move for Atlanta, you can't have too many good CBs now a days. If they can restructure his cap, it will be even better.

Not unless he can magically make Matt Ryan a better QB Laughing Laughing Laughing .

Seriously though I think if the money is right this is a good move for them. He's never been good against the run or particularly elite in man coverage but he's a tremendous actor and is good for deceiving QB's into INT's which is very valuable.
