The way I see it is there are about 12 defensive players OLB'c or DE/DT that we would love to get our hands on. According to boards the highest graded players at their position are (in no particular order):

Brockers
Poe
Coples
Hightower
Ingram
Upshaw
Perry
Mercilius
Cox
Chandler Jones
McClein
Still

In order for us to grab one of the above and better still have a choice amongst three or four defensive players, we require the following 20 players to all be drafted before we pick:

Decastro
Kuchey
Luck
Griffin
Richardson
Claiborne
Blackmon
Gilmore
Barron
Tannehill
Konz
Floyd
Hill
Wright
Reiff
Glenn
Kirpatrick
Mike Adams
Jonathan Martin
Doug Martin

What I am going to be really looking out for on draft day is not the trades (unless Green Bay are the trading team) or who picks who, but how many of the guys on the second list get taken.

More get taken = more choice for the Packers.

We didn't win the superb owl so your math Is off. Also, there will be players you haven't even listed gone before the pack picks. Good strategy though. Cheers.

Unfortunately we didn't.

But part of the point is that we want all 20 of the second list to go, thereby assuming 7 will go from the DE/DT/OLB list before we pick, leaving us a choice, so to certain extent we get the pick of a bunch.

Ideally hoping that Brockers, Upshaw, Mercilus, Perry and McClein are there when we pick.

Give us your thoughts on some other names that might be gone before we pick. The more names the better for us.

I think the bolded players will all be gone. Possibly Still and McClellin too. I'm sure 1 or 2 of them will fall though.

If every team takes the full 10 minutes the Packers would be on the clock at 12:30 AM ET. My guess is that they will pick around 10:30-11:00 ET though.

Thats draft day. Every player rated below 28 for the Packers that gets drafted is a fist pump.

I would move Gilmore and Kirkpatrick from the bottom list to the top.

I wouldn't be shocked if Coples is still around at 28.

Rang has him going to NYG at 32 in his latest mock.

Interesting list. I think it's interesting that everyone is so convinced that we will target the front seven with our first pick. I think it will happen, but I don't think it is written in stone. There are several other positions we could target if the right player is available.

Frankly, you can move Coples and Perry to hte bottom list. They don't fit the scheme very well. We may very well take one of them if they are available, but I wouldn't be a big fan of the pick. In fact, I'm terrified we take Perry, much like I was terrified we would take Dez Bryant over Bulaga or Michael Crabtree over Raji.

I agree I think the way TT has gone about free agency with the Muir and Hargrove signings, along with Walden resigning gives him the freedom to do something different to what we all expect.

I love this. 6 hours and counting....

I don't think TT/MM/Capers are stupid enough to pass on players based on scheme, they are going to take the best players and fit their scheme to accommodate that player.

Although he wouldn't be my first choice, I'd have to add Worthy to that list.
