Will post Bob Mackenzie's top 30 when they come out. Only his opinion carries weight for me.
My top 5:
1) Nail Yakupov
2) Mikhail Grigorenko
3) Ryan Murray
4) Alex Galchenyuk
5) Mathew Dumba
I adore Yakupov's game. He has an outstanding combination of speed and hands and most importantly goes to the net with reckless abandon. Also plays a physical game that brings forth some injury concerns
I believe Grigorenko will be available at #4, and I REALLY want him. He oozes all around talent and has excellent size. Anti-Russian bullcrap has injury/mononucleosis confused with stereotypical Russian heartless-ness and bad work ethic.
Ryan Murray has been a victim of the NHL-ready label in the minds of some. Being ready for the NHL does not equal low upside, people! His game has been picked apart akin to Cam Fowler in his draft year although Murray is more of a defense-first guy.
Alex Galchenyuk is the wild card. At first people thought he was more of a beneficiary to playing on Yakupov's line, but even after a lost season due to injuries many have fallen in love with his talent. After all he was the #1 selection in the OHL Entry Draft IIRC. Very risky pick because of aforementioned injuries, but it can pay big dividends. _________________

1. Yakupov
2. Murray
3. Galchenyuk
4. Grigorenko
5. Forsberg
That's my top 5. Though I'm more interested in the potential for big trades, than the draft this year.
Should be an exciting day for Hockey fans. _________________

JR has all but said he plans to acquire a top flight forward, so don't be shocked to see #8 overall packaged to get someone along the lines of Jordan Staal or Rick Nash. (I doubt we get either, but we've been rumored to be after both). _________________

I'm hoping for Dalton Thrower, Slater Koekkoek, or Matt Finn for the Flyers. _________________

Don't even get me STARTED!
Anyway, Grigs injured his ankle right around midseason and was less effective for the rest of the year including the playoffs. Sometime during that stretch he had also contracted mono (Couture and Couturier dropped for that same reason). Then all of a sudden, some scouts started saying he had a low compete level and bad work ethic. Based on what we ask?
And since then we haven't gotten an answer besides him playing worse to end the season. So feeble fans take that as gospel not because of legitimate reasons but because he's a Russian. And as we all know, Russian players are lazy and heartless so it all makes sense doesn't it? Oh an they're scouts so their baseless narrative is infallible.
A lot of you guys are baseball fans, so you may be familiar with the whole "talented but lazy" stereotype (Latin American equivalent). _________________

I have a feeling that Philadelphia won't hold onto their first round pick. _________________

So basically, Grigorenko is going to fall to #8, where Pittsburgh, after trading Staal for #8 plus more goodies, can snatch up the #2 prospect in the draft?

If Grigs is at 11, there is no way Washington doesn't take him.
Than D at 16. Or we flip it around for a solid D at 11 and hopefully Gaunce at 16. |

Disagree with 2-3-4. Especially Teravainen to the Habs.
Good for the Leafs though. _________________
