Same. Ingram would come in close at third though.

I know its Awesome! And I get to celebrate 1000 posts on this website with this post the same day I get to celebrate making a thread that reaches 100 pages! _________________ "Trying is the first step towards failure"

Probably fits this thread better.

I'm just freaking pumped about this draft in general. It's the first time in a LONG time where we're not going in with glaring needs. We're really just drafting for depth and competition at this point and that's only going to make this team stronger in the long run. If Pete and John keep drafting like this, I don't see us declining any time soon*.

My ideal top two picks are Perry then M.Kendricks. In regards to SoS's thought on KJ/Ingram> Kuechly/KJ- I would have to disagree.
I think Kuechly has proven himself to be a QB of a defense with his instincts, speed, coverage skills, pre-snap reads/audibles, and leadership skills. While I love KJ I'm not sure he has as good of intangibles to lead the D. If Perry is not there, I think Keuch is the much better choice.
Here's my new top 5:
1) Perry
2) Kuechly
3) De Castro
4) Ingram
5) Floyd/Blackmon _________________

Well, here's the thing in that regard.
KJ Wright was known as a leader on the Mississippi State defense. To say that Kuechly can come in his rookie season and automatically be more of a leader at the MLB spot than KJ could with 1 year under his belt is selling KJ short IMO. Considering he's went from a 4th round pick, to forcing our former #4 overall pick out of town, to allowing the staff to feel comfortable in letting Hawthorne walk; I think KJ has earned all the respect needed in the locker room to be a leader.
In this 3-4 under scheme (lets just call it that for sake of argument) the pressure needs to come from the LEO, UT, and SLB primarily rather than your base 4-3 which relies on the RDE, LDE, and UT. Now, don't get me wrong, KJ can rush the passer, but not to the level needed to be among the top 3 needed for the scheme to be run at full force. With KJ proving he can play in the middle, we need to find that unique talent that can both rush the passer on a consistent basis and have the athleticism to play in coverage when asked. Ingram is one of the few unique talents to possess that skillset, and I don't know if I could pass on that.
However, like I said, I do think Kuechly is the better prospect. You won't hear me arguing against that. _________________

Additional thought- we don't need a super-stud at pass rush. Just improvement over what we've had, which is nothing. Any help will take pressure off the secondary & make opposing offenses change their schemes from past years.

"Mediocre talent" like Baldwin, Sherman, Wright, et al. You don't have to draft someone 1st round to be a difference maker. Y'all know it or wouldn't so many of you wanting to trade down. Especially when no one can come close to agreeing on who's even the best pass rusher that's likely to be available to us (or if we should take him @ 12 or screw around trying to get him a little cheaper by horse-trading), it just seems to me you gotta look closely at a guy who's widely viewed as a sure-thing if he's there when we're up. _________________ "We have met the enemy & he is us."- Pogo |

This has got to be the funest Mock I've seen yet. Writers must be getting desparate as it gets closer-
KC trades up to 3 for Tannehill
Jets up to 6 for Kalil
Hawks take Coples @ 12
Rams trade back to 16 for Floyd _________________ "We have met the enemy & he is us."- Pogo |

| I picked other, because I still prefer trading down, but I am definitely warming to the idea of selecting Kuechly, although I doubt he'll be available. If we stayed at #12, I'd probably take Kuechly and move Wright to WLB. I'd prefer trading down though and adding picks. |

After losing Hawthorne, I'm 100% behind getting Kuechly.
Just too much to like about this guy. KJ and Luke together= good things for the run D regardless who's leading.
Also liked saveour's point about Ingram, and have no problems with him or Perry.
Just no Coples please! |

Amen. I ould really like Hendricks or McCelin in round 2, depending on who we select in round one. _________________ "Trying is the first step towards failure"
