Quote:
The announcement that the BCS decided on a four-team playoff is the easiest part of the decision. Over the next seven weeks, the leagues must decide when and where they will play the semifinal games -- Bowls? No bowls? -- and how to select the four participating teams. It will test the goodwill that came out of the meetings last week. It will test the schools’ allegiance to the bowls. College football always tries to strike a balance between tradition and revenue. This time, finding that balance couldn’t be more important.

They have work to do but they got a final four done. No thread on it yet?

So the pac gets screwed by 9 conference games and the upcoming big match ups.

While SEC plays 4 pansy's and tells tall tales about their great strength of schedule.

This is laughable coming from an Oregon and Ohio St. fans. I'll trade Auburn's schedule( or almost any SEC team's) for either of those cakewalks any time. Wanna explain what's so daunting about either team's OOC schedule?

It's never to early to complain about the SEC...lol

You mean the PAC-12 where only 1 maybe 2 teams even play defense?

LOL. Is it that they don't play defense or the fact that they have the best offenses? I mean really. Had Barkley came out four of the top seven QBs drafted would have been Pac12 players. Stanford had five players on offense alone drafted in the first forty picks. USC has two first round WRs right now. That doesn't include Oregon who somehow with little to no NFL talent is the Best offense there. So no wonder. I one can stop anyone.

It's that they don't play defense. Not to mention their offense disappears against SEC teams (not named UT).

And this is how you can spot fans that don't actually follow SEC football closely. Last season in OOC games SEC teams played Texas A&M, Penn State, Oregon, West Virginia, Clemson (x2), Georgia Tech, FSU, Boise State, BYU, etc.

This is of course leaving aside the incredibly aggressive bowl tie-ins against which the SEC seems to put up a winning record almost every year.

I think the fact that the SEC plays themselves should be enough validation of their schedule, not to mention that the top teams there all play at least one OOC game that is against a top 50 or so team, if not two.

Ah. That is why a QB who isn't draftable puts up 400 yards of passing in the biggest game of the year. Gotcha. Confused In fact that QB out duled the Godly "SEC" Heisman winner. Next example please.

Oregon and WV put up more yards on LSU than any other team during the regular season. You know those simplistic offenses... Next example please.

It's a good thing both WVU and Oregon beat LSU.

That has what to do with offenses?

Wow....Nice "cherry-picking" of one stat, from one game without giving any context to it. Let's look at Oregon against quality OOC opponents since 2009 to give a better example.

2009 Oregon season averages 37.7 PPG, 424 Total/YPG, 236 Rush/YPG

Against Boise: 8 points, 152 Total, 31 Rush

Against Ohio St: 17 points, 260 Total, 179 Rush

2010 Oregon season averages: 49.3 PPG, 537 Total/YPG, 303 rush/YPG

Against Auburn: 19 points, 449 Total, 75 Rush

2011 Oregon season averages: 46 PPG, 515 Total/YPG, 295 Rush/YPG

Against LSU: 27 points, 335 Total, 95 Rush.

Against Wisconsin: 45 points, 621 total, 345 rush

As anyone can easily see, Oregon's offensive output drops drastically when not facing conference opponents. Just like AU's coaches stated many times during practices leading up to the BCSNG, Don't let them run, and the mistakes will come. Coach Chizik didn't care if Oregon threw for 500 yds, as long as they couldn't run effectively. Same blueprint LSU, Boise, and OSU used.

That's exactly why your example is so flawed. And AU's defense was far from even "good" that year. In two drafts since, Only 2 players were selected. Nick Fairley and Zach Clayton(7th rnd). Far from a typically talented SEC defense. AU still exceeded their season avgs. on offense for total yards, and I fail to see how Thomas out-dueled Cam just because he threw for more yards. Not that it matters. Points win games, not yards.

Is this a good enough "example"? Or should I pick one stat from one game and focus on that?
