Emery says the Bears have 7 players targeted @ the #19 pick, let play the guessing game. What 7 do you think they are guys? He also says they have had phone calls about trading the pick

I would think it would go something like this The Bears list

1. Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
2. Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College
3. Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
4. Whitney Mercilus, LB/DE, Illinois
5. Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
6. Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina
7. Nick Perry, DE/LB, USC

honorable mentions (solid players that I doubt the Bears like)

David DeCastro, G, Stanford
Dre Kirkpatrick, C Alabama,

Why do you say that about DeCastro? Because of his "tackles turning into guards" line?

The more and more you look at need…scheme fit…and the type of players Lovie likes I would guess the make-up of the 7 are 5 Dlinemen & 2 WRs…

No order…

WR…Stephen Hill…Georgia Tech
WR…Kendall Wright…Baylor
DE…Quinton Coples…UNC
DE…Whitney Mercilus…Illinois
DE…Nick Perry…USC
NT…Michael Brockers…LSU
UT…Dontari Poe…Menphis/Devon Stills…Penn State

that line has nothing to do with my opinion that the Bears aren't drafting him. I like DeCastro, but the only thing that would make me think the Bears would draft him is that Tice had strong guards at Minnesota. The signing of Rachel also makes me think that OG is not on the Bears draft list on the first two rounds.

That's probably pretty accurate.

In no particular order:

DE Coples
DT Brockers
WR Floyd
WR Hill
LB Keuchly
DE Perry *(I feel dirty for typing this, I hate Perry as a first round pick)
WR Wright

This is closer to what i would go with. Floyd has that burst and size to round out the wr core, and bring to the now necessary elite level in our division. Sadly I do not see him falling anywhere close to us at 19. IMO it'll be Mercilus

I really hope it's not Mercilus.

I am assuming that by "targeted" he means those with a very good chance of being there at 19. Under that assumption I would say they are

Mercilus
Gilmore
Coples
Brockers
Hightower
Branch
Upshaw

I do not believe Floyd, Kuechly or Kirkpatrick will be there and I don't think they will draft Wright or Hill at 19. The former because he is short and the latter because he does not have enough of a record. I would not be unhappy if they took Hill.

Why doesn't anyone think Dre Kirkpatrick is on the Bears radar for the #19 pick???

Charles Tillman is getting older (31 yrs old), every cornerback after him is under 6' and the packers along with the Lions proved that are CB's couldn't cover their WRs's 1on 1 man coverage. Tillman was the only one that stnds a chance, and he proved in a game he couldn't cover Vincent Jackson.

Dre Kirpatrick is almost 6'3 190 pounds, runs 4.4-4.5 40 time, and is a very aggressive, well rounded, sure tackler CB that would fit perfect cover 2 scheme. He would match up with the big WRs in our division, or could take #1 or #2 WR while Tillman take the other.

Greg Jennings- Jordy Nelson
Charles Tillman - Dre Kirkpatrick

Calvin Johnson- Nate Burelson
Dre Kirkpatrick - Charles Tillman

Percy Harvin- ?
Dre Kirkpatrick- Charles Tillman.

I think Dre (Janoris Jenkins) and a good pass rusher in the 2nd round would be a great way to start the Draft.

As I noted earlier I don't believe DK will be there and others probably feel the same way.

If it were me I would have…but I doubt Lovie does…he just doesn’t value the position very highly and I feel he values Tim Jennings…we will draft a CB but I reckon he would rather take a Dlinemen over a CB.

I like Kirkpatrick and also DeCastro, that is why I put them on my honorable mention list, but for the months leading up to the draft, I haven't had the feeling once that the Bears would draft either player. I would be very shocked if either of the player's name were called for the Bears.

I agree that there has to be a replacement for Tillman, but I think that Gilmore is ranked higher on there chart and other players are much farther ahead of Dre on the board. Lovie loves his Dline in the cover 2.
