Since football season is getting closer, i figured it's about time to do one of these.
1. The Saints will get to, and more than likely win, this year's Super Bowl. Mark it down, sig quote it, whatever. It WILL happen.
2. Drew will get his contract, then go out on the field and show us why he deserves the money. He'll certainly break the record he set last year, and may even get as far as 5,600 yards through the air.
3. Our defense will be within the No. 8 to No. 12 range. It's a significant jump thanks to some killer offseason signings that have been in the shadow of the bounty crap, but we won't be an ELITE defense.
4. Darren Sproles will destroy the record he set last year because he'll see much more playing time in a Brees-run offense.
5. Our pass defense specifically will go from near-worst to near-first. Our defensive backfield is going to be in an ideal scheme, and we're finally going to see what we have in our pass rushers, specifically Romeus and Galette.
6. Out of all our offseason events, the two that will effect us the most will be the loss of Meachem and the signing of David Hawthorne. Carl Nicks got replaced with another Pro Bowl caliber guard, and Tracy Porter really hasn't done anything since the Super Bowl. On the other side, Lofton is GOOD, but people know that. Same thing with Broedrick Bunkley. However, Hawthorne is incredibly underrated and is going to show up in a big way this season. _________________

Why? The Saints retained the important people for the most part, and did a stellar job of replacing those who were lost to FA or the bounty suspensions.
We saw alot more of Brees running the show during SP's injury and afterwards, and he threw less interceptions in the entire time during and after SP's injury than he did before then. Drew will be running the offense and he'll run it his way, which is all the better.
Even on paper, our defense got exponentially better. Got a star MLB, and underrated but very good WLB, and a big ol' run-stuffin' DT. I think we'll see vast improvement.
Sproles was our best receiving back this year, and since it's going to be a Drew-run offense, that means more throws. So unless Brees decides to have Ingram or a FB to come in and help block, we'll be seeing a whole lot of Sproles.
With the exception of Harper, our defensive backfield is among the best of the NFL. Now Jenkins will be allowed to play some coverage. Add to that the fact that the DL aren't going to be asked to eat blocks for the people blitzing, which was killing their pass rushing ability, we'll finally see what we can do when they're actually allowed to RUSH.
And i really don't feel i have to explain the last one, but i will just for the sake of it. If anything, Carl Nicks' loss will only help the Saints against Tampa because they've practiced against him for 4 years, they should know how to beat him by now. And i know you aren't trying to say that Tracy Porter was anything more than mediocre. He didn't do ANYTHING this year. However, we signed Lofton, we signed Hawthorne, and we picked up some interesting UDFA DBs.
I mean i guess i can see what you're getting at, but they're entirely justified in my mind. Bold would be like Drew Brees throwing for 6000+ yards and 55+ TDs with less than 10 INTs. Or the Saints D becoming #1 in the NFL and holding everyone to less than 200 yards combined per game, leading the NFL in INTs and FFs, and having a PPGA average of like 7. THAT would be bold. _________________

It's bold because we lost our head coach (who is top 3-5 in my mind), and teams will be gunning for us.
On paper, we still look great, but that's why games are played. The 9ers looked pretty poor on paper before last season, and look where they ended up. _________________
