Why can't the Panthers just stay pat and keep the future picks.

So predictable that the Panthers will do something stupid in the draft.

Well, we could've had either of those guys at this pick, but I'd guess that the other would be gone by our 5th round pick (which we still have).

I wouldn't be surprised to see Charles fall to us in the 5th.

Will Josh Chapman last to the 5th? Very Happy

And those two players aren't bad and absolutely feel needs. But I didn't want to give up a 3rd to do so. It will ultimately depend on how our success this years go. If we do well, it's a high 3rd anyway.

Joe Adams is fine, but what the hell is the deal with giving up another third???

I give up. They'll never have a full slate of picks to use. They'll just continue to sell the future to make up for their mistakes every year.

Should have grabbed Boykin with one of those picks. Adds CB depth and would really help in the return game.

Hate giving up a 3rd next year. When will we have year where we have all of our draft picks?

Is Boykin really going to upgrade anything though? He would get lost in the shuffle of CB depth we already have.

Can never have enough CBs, but i know what you mean, the guy who i would want him to replace is Captain.

i hate trading future picks, it never goes well (everette brown and armanti come to mind) and we always do it. ugh. least it wasn't a first or 2nd rounder but still come on guys. keep what we got

We could always trade down next year and pick up a 3rd. And if the 3rd ends up being a late one, it's really not that big of a deal. Not saying I liked it. But I'm not really mad over it.

Yeah, giving up the 96th overall pick won't really end up hurting us Wink

I feel where u are coming from, but we are not drafting an undersized DE or a QB to convert to WR either. Alexander is 6'4 270 lbs and Big 12 defensive player of the year.

If Alexander is good, it's worth it.
3rd rounders seem to be overvalued by FF, and myself honestly.

So far, we have gotten 3 immediate starters in the draft.

Joe Adams at punt returner
Luke Kuechly at MIKE/WILL/SAM
Amini Silatolu at OG

And, I know this has gotten annoying by now but....JOSH CHAPMAN

The 49ers must love getting a phone call from Marty Hurney come draft day. Just like when we traded our first rounder for the chance to draft E. Brown. "What's that? You want to trade us what? for a fourth round pick?..... Guys, stop laughing. Sure Marty, you sure got use this time around." Rolling Eyes

Not to mention that the new trend is to load the DL with 4 DE's on 3rd and 6+. Now they can use Hardy and CJ inside on these downs, with Alexander, Applewhite, Keiser on the outside. Alexander will contribute this year.

And again, that 3rd rnd. pick is already a WIN. Getting a solid(to above-average) TE for more than 5 years(probably) is better than the crapshoot that's been coming off the boards since round 3 started.

In my opinion, Greg Olsen is also better then Any other TE in this draft, he is a top 5 TE in the league and he only cost a 3rd rounder.
