Mayock's take: "That is a good football player, my beast from Midwestern State. He's tough, nasty, a finisher. He's a little bit raw. He's a gifted player, but he's raw. But I'm telling you right now that he's a starting guard with Pro Bowl potential. This is a good move by Carolina."

I'm fine with it and understand the move. Still would have went elsewhere with a more impact position/player but he's a mauler with Pro Bowl potential.

Not a sexy pick, but we needed to bring somebody at guard. A DT would be nice, but I also don't mind seeing how the guys we took last year develop (especially with getting Edwards back).

Think this was a reach, but. If he starts this year and the running game comes on board it should be worth it.

Would like to see us trade in and get another high round pick, the trade value has been great too so maybe Jeffrey or josh Robinson? I think they are going to give the DT from last year another year.

Still no starting quality DT and only one starting quality CB.

No more picks until the 4th round either.

The coaches must be banking on last year's DTs and CBs raising their game this year.

I think it's clear. Ron Rivera doesn't deem DT a huge area of need.

More like a "disgrace"

Sure he beasted against high school competition (ughh Glenn just as athletic....& much more developed, and faced NFL schemes in the SEC)

andddd over

Devon Still,
2 time all-american & capatain
DT OUR F-ing biggest NEEEEEEEEEEEEEED since 2007.....jesus cant believe this......well we'll just have to wait to watch M Turner/M Ingram run through holes that could fit 18wheelers....and then get stoned by Kuechly. Rolling Eyes

Bit dramatic there I think, still clearly isn't rated highly enough if he is still there and not likely an upgrade

Not to mention I'd argue that our biggest need over the last five years was filled last year when we drafted Cam Newton.

Just to provide a little perspective, here are a few draft profiles of him:

Scott Wright says First Round Pick

CBS says Fringe First Round

NFL Draft Scout: Late 1-Mid/Late 2

So as you can see, this is either a value pick or about the right spot according to most. And I love the pick.

Agreed.

Remember Panthers draft 2 3rd round DT's last year. Plus have Ron Edwards coming back. Plus, Kearse and Neblitt played well down the stretch.

That's a little concerning to me. I have no problem with the pick, I like it, but expecting to go into the season with the 3 guys we have? The same 3 as last year (and one was hurt, I'm not sure we can really rely on Ron Edwards)? It's a little concerning to me. I hope they don't make a habit of taking a bunch of DT's in late rounds, because those guys are always plugs and won't help at all.

Glenn is just as athletic? Please..... that about sums up your knowledge in one statement.
