| Emery's awesome at the podium. I listen to him for 2 minutes talking about this guy and I can't wait to see him. |

| Never mind... Looking at Biggs' tweets it looks like Rodriguez will be the versatile recieving threat. Looking more and more like a solid pick to me. I'm coming along to it. |

I actually like this pick quite a bit.
He definitely fills the TE need that most of us were discussing before the draft. He is absolutely in the mold of Aaron Hernandez, as he lines up all over the field and blocks, runs routes, and even takes handoffs very well.
This video really sold me on the type of player he can be at the next level. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t_qeeHEJ3Y
I know its YouTube and its Miami (OH) (my alma mater, btw), but he looks damn good as an H-back.
I like what Emery is doing to our offense. He's making it better and less predictable than ever before.
I also think that we are focusing on offense with guys like Jeffery and Rodriguez because our defense only has a small window left. Emery emphasized winning now more so than building for the future. I think he wants to get us a top-flight offense now to match up with our top flight defense and be able to compete.
I think we'll look back and like this pick. _________________ I'm a Bears fan. |

| Looking at his highlights, his style foes kind of remind me a little of Aaron Hernandez... About the same height also. Hernandez is barely 6'2, Rodriguez is about 6 1/2 according to Jensen |

OP is updated...
My Take...
This is the first pick I have been really disappointed in…Rodriguez is a flex TE/H-Back at the next level…a flex TE only has value as a receiving weapon…but how is this guy going to get touches of the ball with Marshall, Bennett, Jeffery, Forte, Bush & Davis all in the mix?...he isn't a better blocker than Clutts so I just don't see the value...this pick could have been used on getting a two deep OG or a rotational DT…just seems like a waste of a pick IMO. |

I agree 100%
Also... Aaron Hernandez was drafted in the fourth round, pick 113.... Is all of this a coincidence? |

On Rodriguez's performance metrics: "Out of all the tight ends, this guy scores higher than anybody. He's a nine out of ten."
Also Emery said they found a guy in the 4th round that can play 4 downs with them, which, as he said, is rare.
Value-wise we might have been able to wait, but we don't have a pick til the 6th round. Trade down, maybe. But we had our guy and we took him. |

I'm not saying Rodriguez isn't a good prospect...I'm just saying I don't see where his touches are going to come from given what we already have at the skill positions. |

| Seriously... Jay cutler must be sitting on cloud 9 right now with the offensive weapons Emery and Co have brought in for mphim this offseason. |

Nope. He's laying on his back on cloud 9...he should get used to it, because all these great weapons are going to get dusty while he's dumping off screens to Forte due to constant pressure. |

Rodriquez does not need to catch the ball to have an impact. If he is fast and and dynamic and needs to be covered that will open things up for everyone else.
This pick again is growing on me as it diversifies our offense and adds weapons. _________________

I don't think teams like the Patriots, Packers and Giants are worrying where everyone's touches come from.
The Pats have Gronk, Hernandez, Welker, Lloyd and other offensive threats. They aren't worried about who gets what touches, they just make sure that opposing defenses respect everyone.
Same with the Giants and Nicks, Cruz and now Randle.
I think that is what Emery is trying to establish with our offense. A bunch of guys that can hurt you, and that defenses have to account for at all times. _________________ I'm a Bears fan. |

you do realize that Cutler got sacked 5x in the last 5 games he played.
We get Carimi back
We get CW back
We lose Martz's 19 step drops
Jay can audible.
Maybe the line is better than you think? Emery and Tice sure think so. |

Aaron Hernandez? Evan Rodriguez? Got the American first name Latino last name thing going on. Hopefully he's not as good _________________

| Ugh, I dislike this pick. Least favorite by far. A tweener TE/WR/HB/FB..We have Clutts and Davis. I would've much rather drafted a OL Depth, CB, DT..even LB..or even traded down |
