Ugh, I dislike this pick. Least favorite by far. A tweener TE/WR/HB/FB..We have Clutts and Davis. I would've much rather drafted a OL Depth, CB, DT..even LB..or even traded down

We got OL and CB depth in free agency...you wanted to take someone so we could hope they make it to the practice squad after TC?

The OL will be 50% better by simply getting rid of Martz and adding some WR talent.

I noticed it with the Jeffery pick and now with this pick, I dont think Emery is as attached to our previous roster as we all are.

Dont be surprised if guys like Clutts or Spaeth are cut.

So far we have only seen Emery adding guys, we havent seen the nasty side of the job where he has to cut people during training camp.

Angelo ran this team where we kind of latched on to guys with potential, already Im seeing Emery wants numbers

You heard it here first guys, dont be surprised by some of our fan favorite guys getting cut in TC. (If you call Spaeth and Clutts favorites, lol)

That's what EVERYONE keeps saying...and that's fine if true. But regardless of our new system, we still have one of the LEAST talented offensive lines in the league. How many teams would our starters start for?

30 other teams.

The Texans would, but they're zone blocking

Totally agree, I actually think the OL got a bad rap in the first place, im not sure what people are comparing our line to but as far as a mixture of youth and performance we arent great but we are OK.

Cut the 7 step drops, add some extra blockers, add recievers that can help Jay relese the ball quicker, the OL will look good.

That's a really good point. He's created competition for both Spaeth and Clutts. I liked Clutts, but Spaeth wasn't a monster or anything last year.

Seriously... Jay cutler must be sitting on cloud 9 right now with the offensive weapons Emery and Co have brought in for mphim this offseason.

Nope. He's laying on his back on cloud 9...he should get used to it, because all these great weapons are going to get dusty while he's dumping off screens to Forte due to constant pressure.

Hey how about you be a little more negative.

The front office obviously knows more than you and they are confident our offensive line unit can go out and provide time for Cutty. I also think they firmly believe the o line play will be much better due to the Mike Tice offensive coordinator change... Jay cutler will not be taking 20 foot drop backs and the play calling will be much better

If you're basing your opinion of the offensive line on the last 6 weeks of the season, that's prob not a good idea. Before jay and Matt went down it was the best offensive line play we have seen here in the last 3-4 years. We also didn't have Carimi for all but 1 1/2 games and we lost Chris Williams mid season. I also think lance Louis came in and showed some great things for us this year and I believe he will be the starting right guard week one vs the colts, and also shows quick feet if injury problems and he could do a solid job at either of the tackle positions. I also think rachal will come in and create great competition with Chris Williams for the LG spot.

you do realize that Cutler got sacked 5x in the last 5 games he played.

We get Carimi back
We get CW back
We lose Martz's 19 step drops
Jay can audible.

Maybe the line is better than you think? Emery and Tice sure think so.

I honest to god did not even see this post, and we said the same exact things... I'm condpfident our o line can do a solid job for us this year

What 4th round OLmen starts for us?

The answer is NONE.

The Bears would have had to address the OL in rounds 1 or 2 and we had bigger needs.

Rodriquez does not need to catch the ball to have an impact. If he is fast and and dynamic and needs to be covered that will open things up for everyone else.

This pick again is growing on me as it diversifies our offense and adds weapons.

Similar to my thoughts, I love the pick....don't like passing on Massie twice but an extremely athletic and fluid flex TE thats catches with his hands; and can block !
We dont have anyone with his skill set or even close.....he'll be giving us the best of what we're lacking in Davis, Unga, Clutts and then some...

Seeks out contact, plays very well all over the place ....Whats not to like ??

**this said, Chilo better not be all we're doing to the Oline.....ready to see the oline backup plan that Lovie alluded to a couple months ago !!

You guys with this OL man....what OL in the draft or even remaining in FA, is better than our top 7 guys??? Seriously, what would we be doing with the OL that would have an impact on next season? The whole thing with the Bears is that we dont have top tier talent(except maybe Carimi)

We dont NEED to just bring in some random guys, Webb is someone our OC loves and has all the physical tools and then some, 6'8 335lbs. is SERIOUS physical potential and so far he has had no off-field problems. What guy in this years draft or FA would we find that is 6'8 335 and has played LT in this league for 2 years?

If the Bears had a bad year and was able to get one of those OL who in the top5 every year I would be for it, but just adding guys for fun is lame.

http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/multimediapopup.asp?mm_file_id=2989&play_clip=Y&rn=9

Go to around 0:35..

E-Rod makes 3 great downfield blocks, springing his RB for about a 60-yd TD.

Definitely liking this pick.

I'm referring to passing on Decastro in the first, goin with Alshon over Osemele, and passing on Massie in 3rd and 4th.....outside of those guys you are right, no one else is worth adding

I love McClellin as everybody knows, really like Alshon, really like Hardin, really like Rodriguez......all fill significant needs for us..

we still need a cover corner and need to improve the Oline....the draft isnt the only wat to go....lovie alluded to a couple months ago about the backup oline plan.....

It needs to be more than just plugging Louis in at LG and having Williams battle Webb to start at LT.....we have to improve LG and LT somehow, whether its a trade or adding a vet that is going to be cut.....we cant start the season with the Oline as is
