With the 130th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select:
Christian Thompson, S, South Carolina State

The depth at safety was one of the worst on the team and with the Thompson pick the Ravens also have somebody to develop behind Reed. This safety class is one of the worst in recent memory and it seems as if teams are going for guys that they like, no matter what the round, more than ever before. |

| So as it stands, if either Reed or Pollard get hurt, this guy has to get ready to play fast. |

| This safety class is so diluted that opinions of the guys after Barron and Smith are probably very diverse. Thompson looks like a developmental guy but that's fine because Reed is likely going to be around for another couple of seasons and he was a guy that was already mentoring Thompson. I do like his athleticism and he does seem to be a good guy to use in man coverage, specifically thinking about lining him up against TEs. |

I think I'm starting to love this pick. After Mark Barron and Harrison Smith he might be the only safety in this draft that can make plays in the passing game and is a good tackler. One of the more athletic safeties. _________________

Apparently the team feels we got a huge steal here.
| Quote: | | Defensive Coordinator Dean Pees: “We had [Thompson] very high on our board on defense and are really kind of shocked that he was still there in the fourth round. To get a guy that we had ranked as high as we had him ranked, I wanted to hug Ozzie. That was a great pick.” |

Good pick. He can backup and learn from " his idol" Ed Reed and contribute on special teams as well. From what I heard, Thompson has great instincts , range and is a fierce hitter. _________________ BALL SO HARD UNIVERSITY!!!!! |

Everything I've read says the opposite. Thompson is a big project, but that's fine since Reed probably won't be going anywhere for a few more seasons. |

| And you might have thought Gradkowski would be the only head-scratching reach by the Ravens. |
