95% of the answers here give us an A or a B.
I take it the other few percent are some random Viking or Bears fans in here? _________________ "It's the same old Jay," Woodson told ESPN afterward. "We just need to be in position. Jay will throw us the ball." |

May 11th is when the Packers' rookie camp is. One of the rookies posted the full daily schedule on Twitter, but I forgot who, and am too lazy to go back and find it. _________________

Not like the final grade was that far off between Upshaw and Perry. They just get there in a much different way! As I said on draft day, my beef with Perry had very little to do with his final grade/slot. I had a much higher grade on Perry than I did Shea but liked Shea a good bit more in Green Bay.
I would have LOVED the Perry pick if Clay was not around! As is, I was just one that wanted our Woodley to go along with our Harrison.
Again, it's not a grade thing for me half as much as it's a style thing![/quote]
What type of player is Woodley? I have often heard Steeler fans mention him as a great all-around OLB. What would you think of Perry style? _________________

I've often compared Nick Perry to Brian Orakpo, and feel that it's pretty accurate. _________________

Woodley turns speed into power as well as any rusher in the game. A true leverage pig. Have seen him pick up 350lb lineman and sit them in the QB's lap. In short, he is not going to go around you. He is going to go over you and kill the pocket.
That's not Perry! From a skills/style POV, I feel that Orakpo comparison above is very close. I also feel Babin out of college was damn close. Just like Babin it might take Perry a little time until he finds out how to get away from his blocks at the pro level. If he can do that though, Perry is the guy on the board that could be a true difference maker in terms of sacks. That was also the fit I felt would hold Perry's high board on draft day. Put that boys skills at 9-tech and you might have a monster from day-1.
Some work to be done as is. Hard not to like his odds long term with the staff in hand. Just hope he brings a little something to the table out the gate. I would hate to see Babin's career play out with Perry in Green Bay. With our bad luck with rushers, I can just see Perry "getting it" the year after we cut him as played out with Babin. _________________

Long time no see.
But yeah, it was quite a bit to move up for a guy who was perceived as a hustle player. Turns out it was worth every penny and then some. |
I remember Gil Brandt saying a couple months before the draft that Mathews had the athletic ability to be a very good OLB, I also think Daniels could be a real sleeper, and can rush the passer from any position on the D line, including the OLB spot, I'am excited for this draft class. |

| Quote: | Overview: Amazing that a team so good and so dominant for large stretches of an entire NFL season could also be so obviously flawed. So it was pretty simple: the Packers acknowledged the problem that haunted them in 2011 and, like any good organization would do, moved very aggressively to resolve those problems. The team’s first six draft picks all went to defenders.
It was the only rational thing for Green Bay to do in the draft after the disaster of 2011: a team that went 15-1, scored 560 points, second most in history, and scored 35.0 PPG, sixth most in history, was embarrassed defensively in their lone playoff game. The Packers surrendered a grotesque 9.56 yards every time Eli Manning stepped back to pass in the Giants’ divisional playoff win at Green Bay.
It was clear that the great pass-rushing, playmaking defense of 2010 that lifted the Pack to a Super Bowl title had fallen off dramatically in 2011. So, given all the evidence, Green Bay had only one path to follow in the draft and they followed it with religious zeal. Cheeseheadism, folks. It's contagious.
Fillability Grade: A+ |
Plus Lions and Bears got a C _________________

I know it is pointless to look back and see who we could of got but Ronnell Lewis and Jared Crick were so close to our back to back fourth round picks. we were like 7 picks away from both falling in our lap.
That would of been awesome. Those are two guys we could of took in the second and third round and people would of loved the draft.
Wonder were they were at on TT's board and if he would of took them over Mike Daniels and Jerron McMillian. |

Before I read your last line, I was thinking that Ted might not have preferred either of them. Crick has less than ideal size, and the concerns about his dropoff in play after Suh left was concerning. Not to mention the injury.
Lewis we had no need. He would have been little more than white noise on the back end of our roster now that we know Clay and Perry will be the guys we're pushing. Our backup OLBs are more than capable to fill in should we have an injury, especially if Walden is gone _________________

Crick had almost identical production after Suh left and 9.5 sacks from the defensive tackle which would give one optimism he would do well rushing from a 3-4 end spot. obviously injuries could of held him back but he is a better player than Mike Daniels IMO.
As for Lewis, you can never have too many pass rushers and there is no guarantee that Nick Perry will work out. Our back-ups aren't stellar. He would of been great value there.
Kind of pointless to argue about since we didn't get them but just a thought. |

I'm going to go ahead and unsticky this since we've got 15 days until our first regular season game. If anyone wants to look back at the reactions of the pick, I've put the links into the Packers forum directory so you can look in there for it. We haven't had a post in here in over three months, and no reason to push more active threads onto the next page. _________________
