Draft profile: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L__yGr3mWjs
Strengths:
| Quote: | | Combination of size, length, and foot speed is nearly unparalleled. Delivers solid first contact that jolts opponent back. Continues to press and locate ball carriers in the backfield. Consistently sheds at the line of scrimmage, envelopes his target with a strong grasp and outstanding closing burst. Flashes the complete package, specifically when rushing from the edge on passing downs. When lining up inside a natural anchor shows up, helped by low pad level off the snap. Burst off of extension is counter move, gains significant ground on target. Obvious coaching on technique is absorbed and implemented. |
Weaknesses:
| Quote: | | Has admitted to a lack of stamina. Fatigue is noticeable after a few plays of rushing the passer. In those circumstances, does not chase the play down from the backside, instead staying at the line of scrimmage to knock down the pass. Technique is not always there, specifically on the edge against the run. Frequently gives up the wrong arm or shoulder to blockers, takes himself out of the play. Hand fights at the line against the run rather than driving or penetrating to disrupt. A hit or miss player on the field but consistency is growing. |
Combine stats:
40 Yrd Dash: 4.56
20 Yrd Dash: 2.66
10 Yrd Dash: 1.62
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 21
Vertical Jump: 34 1/2
Broad Jump: 09'10"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.26
3-Cone Drill: 7.11
Stats his senior season:
Solo tackles: 35
Assisted tackles: 27
Total: 62
TFL: 13.0
Sacks: 4.5
I wanted him for months. He will step in day 1 and be productive in Jim Washburn's wide-9 scheme. He has the potential to become one of the best DE's in the NFL, and playing next to Suh and Fairley he will have every chance to shine. Best fit for all parties involves, and fills a major need. Perfect fit. _________________

I'm not mad at all. We needed a pass rusher ad I wanted him, Millner, Warmack or Cooper. We should have a solid line. _________________

I wouldnt say Im happy, But I understand it.
With the three OT's off the board it really didnt leave them many choices. But he seems like a really good kid, obvious athletic as heck and is healthy.
But for all his "not swinging for the fences" talk Mayhew had, he sure didnt do what he said |

I said there was a very slim chance it would happen. It happened.
Let's hope I'm wrong and he learns how to play the game. Mayhew/Schwartz job depend on it.
Although that may be why some of you wanted him. |

So ticked....Lions always get screwed over....I think he's gonna suck...I'd rather Dee Milliner and I hate him too. Now we can't get one of the good DE's that will drop to the 2nd...smh _________________ AAL: Jacob Lacey |

| Love the pick personally, odd for the Lions to take the player I wanted. Hoping we Draft a CB tomorrow and Jones or Fredrick in the 3rd. |

I was never sold on Milliner either. But I think this pick came down to Ansah or Cooper. And odds were better of getting a decent OL in the second than if the run on DE's starts late in the teens |
