Yes, we know all that - hence the inverted commas around the word in the OP. It's just fun the project these things. _________________

| Before the draft I said BJ Cunningham would be a steal so I'll say him. Also I think Akiem Hicks will be a steal. I think he'll have a better career than Michael Brockers. The homer in me wants to say Taylor Thompson. He has potential to be a great TE but, we'll have to wait and see if he ever reaches that potential. |

| When these guys do something in the NFL I will then consider them a steal. |

There are quite a few players who could end up being steals but I think Marvin McNutt could end up being a huge steal. I was pissed that the Browns didn't draft him. _________________ Cleveland Browns Forum Hall of Fame Inductee

Forgot about Hemingway, but I agree that he could be a steal as well. Tough to gauge him because he had a non-conventional QB in Robinson. He always seems to come up with some big catches though... _________________

what was Massie's injury concern? I was wondering about this one. _________________

There isn't any, at least none that I can find.
I don't consider Massie a steal at all. I think we got good value there and I'm excited to see what he can bring to our offensive line but a player who was only a right tackle in college that projects as only a right tackle in the NFL really isn't a steal in round 4. It's just a solid pick that you say, "Not bad" to and then move on.
Biggest steal to me is easily David DeCastro. Based on nothing but pure on field play, he was a top 10 player in this draft and they got him at what, 23? That's ridiculous. I compared him pre-draft to Alan Faneca. Alan Faneca at 23 is absurd. _________________

From what I've seen he reminds me of a poor man's Dwayne Bowe. _________________

Yes, you can't evaluate truly until after they get on the field, but this is based on where "most" draft evaluators had these guys projected.
BOLDED are my biggest 5 steals
(*=Guys I'm not overly enamored with, but definitely went later than projected.)
Ta'amu (3rd)
Chapman (4th) -- jealous
Hemingway (5th/6th) -- EXTREMELY jealous
*Glenn (1st)
*Randle (early 2nd)
Thompson (2nd)
Boykin (2nd/3rd) -- jealous
J. Norman (3rd/4th)
M. Jones (3rd/4th)
Criner (3rd/4th)
*Iloka (3rd/4th)
A. Jackson (3rd/4th) -- jealous
McNutt (4th/5th) -- jealous
Streeter (4th/5th)
*Kelemete (3rd)
B. Washington (3rd/4th) -- jealous
T. Robinson (4th/5th) -- jealous
N. Potter (5th)
Molk (4th/5th)
Audie Cole (4th/5th)
*B. Winn (3rd/4th)
K. Randall (4th) -- jealous
Cam Johnson (3rd)
A. Allen (3rd/4th)
E. Baker (5th)
Some "steals" I really don't think of as steals
J. Jenkins - he was not projected to go in the 1st in the last couple of months. Just because he has top 15 talent, everyone knew he'd drop to the 2nd. 4 kids with 3 wives and drug issues at age, what, 22/23? Hope he's motivated.
Adams - love him as a LT prospect, but he was slated in the 2nd after ALL his character issues came to light. Hope he pans out, but he's not a steal.
Dennard - who knew where he'd be projected when his latest stunt surfaced within a week of the draft. Decent talent, but, as they say, "10 cent head" to do that the week before the draft.
L. Miller - believe he has a medical concern (shoulder) and his football IQ was questioned a bit, and really think he was a bit overhyped, myself. He's got AWESOME athleticism and I defintely wouldn't mind him on the Steelers, but he probably went where he should have.
Now, my definition of "steal" may be different than you all's, but I think of "steal" as different than "boom". Each one of these I don't consider as steals, could absolutely be "boom" players, where the "steals" may never amount to a load of dung on the field. Same could be said for the "reaches" like Irvin, A. J. Jenkins, and Quick. They definitely were not projected to go where they did, but that doesn't mean they won't be "booms", so there is my "disclaimer" as it were!! _________________
