| Quote: | | NEWS: Tampa Bay Buccaneers announce that they signed college free agent DT Eric LeGrand from Rutgers University. On October 16, 2010, in a game against Army during his junior season, LeGrand suffered fractures of two vertebrae and a serious spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed. “Leading up to the draft, I couldn’t help but think that this should’ve been Eric’s draft class,” said Coach Schiano. “This small gesture is the least we could do to recognize his character, spirit, and perseverance. The way Eric lives his life epitomizes what we are looking for in Buccaneer Men.” |
I knew he we were going to sign him! I love Schianos loyalty to him. This is a very classy move by Schiano, Dom, and the Buccaneers organization. _________________

| It's a tragic story . Etc etc. but is he taking a roster spot? And this means he'll never be cut? |

Relax...it's not that serious. We aren't cutting anyone because of this, and he won't be one of the final 53. We are allowed to have up to 90 players on the roster up until the 2nd or 3rd week of the preseason. Even IF he counted against our roster it's not a big deal.
Really nice move by Schiano & Co. Great story.
EDIT - Here you go.

| Quote: | | The Buccaneers announced Wednesday morning that they had signed LeGrand to a contract. Much like one of those one-day contracts for players who want to retire with a certain team, this contract is ceremonial. LeGrand won't play, but the gesture made by coach Greg Schiano, who coached LeGrand in college, is uplifting as LeGrand continues trying to put together his life. |

Tremendous gesture of kindness by Coach Schiano and the organization. I'm very proud of my team today. |

Very classy move. Schiano grows on me more each day. I believe I'm not alone when I say thank god we got Schiano instead of Chip Kelly. _________________

| Now this here is a very classy move. All of this will be forgotten if Schiano does not produce results and gets canned in his tenure. Its more meaningful in my opinion, when you have a coach that fans can sit back and remember things like this who was successful. A franchise turnaround and this move here would put up there with being one of the best coaches we had next to Dungy and Gruden. |

I tip my hat to Greg, Mark, and everyone involved, this is all class.
It would be nice if Mark can actually find away for Eric to stay with the orginization. _________________

He would be a great guy to have in the locker room for the players to rally around, and have something to play for. I don't believe talent was what this team was missing last year. I believe the team was missing leadership and heart last season. Schiano is making sure this team will play hard, and leave everything on the field. He's not gonna be best friends with the players like Morris. _________________

Truly inspiring
"I believe I will walk again. I do. When that happens, I already know what I'm going to do. I'll go to Giants Stadium and find the exact spot in the field where I went down. I'll lie there for a second. And then I'll get up on my own power and walk away." - Eric LeGrand _________________
