Polish timing and consistency are keeping Jones down but launching Cobb up? Jones defined role is strong physical guy who can play at any of the spots efficiently off the bench. Solid 3rd/4th with driver as Jennings nelson are 1/2. I think Cobb will have a heck of a time jumping Jones until driver is gone. |
They are keeping Jones down because of his skill set. At this point I assume Jones is what he is. Cobb on the other hand will have his first full offseason and really have a chance o get on 100% the same page with his reads and technique. His skillset also creates a role for him that is different from what the other Packers WRs bring to the table. Jones being a strong guy who can play all the spots in a pinch just makes him everyone's backup. It doesn't create a unique role for him. |
Fair enough, I don't think he really needs a special role as a depth player the way we rotate em out there.. I think it was clear Jones was many pages ahead of Cobb in rodgers book last year though.. I agree with you Cobb can be a good one I just think it will take another year to get into aarons head, and that's what makes this offense special. If Cobb was working his tail off all offseason on his routes and getting in the playbook then sure, I wanna see him succeed just as badly, I just think he has his work cut out for him to jump driver/Jones THIS year.

Except I don't really see them using WRs as a rotation. Everyone gets a role in certain looks and packages. It ends up spreading the ball around, in terms of catches but only because of the number of different sets and looks the Packers give.

You mean like when they run the same exact play with different receivers at each position? Call it what you will... I'll call it a rotation
