Misfits - Bullet
Well, this song is about JFK getting shot in the head and then Glenn Danzig making lude advances to Jackie O. And then they start the song over, and play it again.
Texas is an outrage....
Ringworm - Birth is Pain
Ringworm is another Cleveland band. Victory Records band. Before Victory went dumb- so you know its hardcore. _________________

Today I am going to go with a couple bands that have adapted over the years and have withstood the test of time. Theyve both reinvented themselves countless times and still manage to put out good stuff.
The first is Corrosion of Conformity. A punk band out of, iirc, Raleigh NC. I loved these guys when I was a teen.
Old COC

New COC

The other band is Neurosis, who hit the scene a bit late in the 80's. But landed with a hell of a debut album. And theyve just gotten heavier and heavier over the years.

New Neurosis (give it past 2 minutes before you judge)

Both have much of a heavier, less punk feel of course. Which isnt a bad thing. I am into heavy, stoner-riffic music nowadays anyway. Hope you enjoy. And keep the suggestions coming. I have gotten some good ones in the last couple days.
PS, I cant believe these bands are like 25-30 years old. Damn that makes me feel old. _________________

Damn I still love the Misfits. So good. No matter what played. What style they were playing at the time. Just love em.
Quick fact: The first two punk albums I ever bought were the Misfits "Evilive" EP and DK's "Plastic Surgery Disasters." I am feeling all nostalgic. I wonder how much that old Misfits EP would be worth nowadays.
Speaking of what things are worth, I still have a Peachee in a box somewhere filled with about 200 old flyers from the socal scene in the mid 80's. I wonder if they would be worth anything nowadays. Not that I would part with them. But I heard some guy talking one day about those old flyers being worth something. _________________

Well it isnt so much that I skipped over it. I was trying to show where they started and where they are now. A band thats been around for 25 years has plenty inbetween.
I am a big fan of Enemy of the Sun and Times of Grace. Here's the title tracks, for those demanding something in the middle.

I still cant believe how old these albums are. Infinitely listenable. _________________

Well, the Di'Anno years were their best years, so I would have just stopped there anyway.

From NS922
Korn - Divine
MBTL's take: Korn's not my fav band but there are some jams that I'll listen to out of nostalgia's sake. Namely Freak on A Leash. Unfortunately this was not one of them. I'm sure its perfectly good nu-metal if you're into that.
From latinoaustino
Children of Bodom - Shipping up to Boston
MBTL's take: CoB is not my fav- nor is DKM, but for some reason CoB covering DKM is pretty cool LOL.
From Tzimicse
Tyrant - Too Late to Pray
MBTL's take: I really liked this track. It was over the top, it was heavy, it was driving, it had NWOBHM influences, and it was dark. Pretty much everything I like in a song.
Jag Panzer - Generally Hostile
MBTL's take: I didn't like this as much - the vocals sound kind of weird to me and it could be the production but it just didnt feel like it was all there. Its got the rhythym and tempo to FSU, I'd just like to hear it more.
Holy Terror - Tomorrow's End
MBTL's take: Starts out with an Iommi inspired intro and then to me it sounds like Slayer [the general dissaray feeling you get from the guitar after the intro. real hectic, real fast, real thrashy] meets Iron Maiden [high voice plus the guitars in the chorus]. I love Slayer, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden so it works out just fine for me. _________________

from Tzimisce:
Sadus - Certain Death
MBTL's take: Fast. heavy. Thrashy. I like the nice stacatto breakdowns. To me this sounds like a band that would have played with Slayer and I would have loved to have seen them. Probably would have lost an eye and an arm in the pit. _________________

I should've picked Here to Stay, that's a better song for this thread |
