it's clear that WW is no DJ as a 3-down WLB. |
That may be true, but at least WW will be there on Sundays. DJ is going to be out 6 games. He'll be getting no reps in practice so it's likely he wouldn't start until the 8th or 9th game.
Right now he's one step away from a one year+ suspension. Goodell is extremely tired of his $hit. Given DJ's history, how likely is it that he can avoid another incident? Not very!
I'd take the less productive player who you can count on to be there over the aging borderline pro-bowler who's career may end up on a suspension.
Get rid of him. |

Looking at our front 7, the Chiefs, Raiders, and Ryan Mathews must be licking their chops. _________________

http://blogs.denverpost.com/crime/2012/07/11/broncos-linebacker-dj-williams-flunked-doping-test-court-documents/4168/
Are you kidding me? Dj Williams apparently failed two drug tests a month apart and then had an incident happen during the third test. In my view, this guy is just a scumbag and we need to cut him. I dont care the impact it has on the field. We dont need guys like him on this team. |
This part was more concerning:
| Quote: | When the sample was analyzed for performance-enhancing drugs, testers flagged it because, as one toxicologist later wrote in an e-mail (see page 96 of this court exhibit), “The specimen does not contain any endogenous steroids. The profile is not consistent with a normal, healthy male urine specimen.”
As the February letter explains, endogenous steroids are naturally produced by the body and found in human urine. Their absence in the sample caused testers to conclude that Williams had provided non-human urine. The distinction wouldn’t have been made in a “substances of abuse” test because such tests do not look for endogenous steroids. Instead, the “substances of abuse” test would likely report a negative result for drugs. |
1st he wasn't smart enough to use human urine. 2nd I assume this means he knows no one not smoking(unless he doesnt want to ask. Or he knows women but is worried about birth control but I doubt he thought it threw that far.)
Also for the falling bottle it really shows how uncommitted he is. If he loved his drugs and his job he should be doing oil changes. A Blue Mountain State joke.
He isnt getting paid and is out for awhile. It'll be interesting. |
Hahaha that killed me.
As far as DJ goes, I really could care less what they do with him. I don't even care if they get compensation for him, I'd be fine with cutting him. I realize no team in this league has a 53 man roster with no bad apples, but this is getting ridiculous. We've got a pretty good group here now (as character goes). Kind of feel that at this point if a good character guy got in trouble the team would come down harder on him than they do on DJ. Seriously how many chances is the coaching staff/front office going to give DJ. They've been making exceptions for him for years now. Cut ties, please. _________________

Mendenhall won't be playing, he blew his ACL out in week 17 last year and is all but assured to be placed on PUP. _________________ big_palooka:

Im sorry but Goodman trying to tackling anyone in open field was a nightmare. I dont remember one instance because it happened far too often.
Still, my point is, our schedule is brutal for this front-7. Peyton is the wild-card to it all. _________________

Agreed. Hopefully with Peyton we can get leads early and force the other team to play catch-up and not run the ball as much which plays to our strengths (Peyton on offense, Doom/Miller rushing the passer on defense). _________________ Broncos-Bulls-Cubs-CU-Blackhawks |

I still dont know whether DJ has a client for a fool or a fool for an attorney. The NFL has been willing to negotiate reductions of penalties this off season when there has been a suit. McBean had his suspension cut in half. He wisely dropped his suit. Now Vilma has been offered 8 games instead of an entire season.
Had DJ Williams just accepted the deal, he would have been facing just a 3 game suspension. By following through with the suit, the NFL has zero incentive to negotiate with him now. Just plain stupid.

DJ is a moron; everyone knows this and I am glad the Coaching staff are making an example of him by giving him no reps in practice. Keep running those sprints, DJ. _________________ 20 TIMES, 20 TIMES MAN UNITTTTTEEDDD

I heard this today just as I was leaving camp. I expect Goodell to nail DJ with a 4-game suspension as a he's a repeat offender. So now we're without our 4th-best defensive player for the first 10 games instead of just the first 6. Oh well, at least he will be well-rested come playoff time. _________________ big_palooka:

He deserves a season long suspension for all of his misdemeanours combined. I will miss him from a blitzing perspective, but I am not anywhere near as high on his game as everyone else. _________________ 20 TIMES, 20 TIMES MAN UNITTTTTEEDDD

Agreed. He should be cut, if you ask me. The guy is a ticking time bomb. I guarantee LB is on our watch list next year. _________________

I think it's likely the team will keep DJ. He doesn't draw a salary during his suspension so he's cheap insurance and will be fresh at the end of the season.
He has near-zero trade value.
The hard question is if he is worth a roster spot if this is his last year with the team. Will the long-term strategy be to go with youth this year if DJ will be gone next year? Maybe Brooking will be kept instead, if Brooking can give a full season for one year. |
