Chiefs are busy bringing in free agents. Dallas Clark coming to KC tonite for a visit. Free safety A.J.Atogwe was at Arrowhead last night.

I know some people view Jack Harry as questionable at the least...and it is O.J. Not A.J....but I think these could be two excellent signings. Clark steps in and takes O'Connell's roster spot and is great in 3 TE sets. He still has it. I would like O.J. even more. He would be the perfect mentor to Kendrick, Eric, and Menzie and would allow Eric to come down in the box with Kendrick and O.J. staying back. How would you feel about these moves?

EDIT: Arrowhead Pride just posted an article about this.

Of note is that GM Scott Pioli was interviewed by Harry today. I'll be watching the video of it tonight.

So Harry had direct contact with Pioli today...I really doubt Pioli would directly tell Harry if these two visited or are visiting, but it does go along with Pioli's remarks after the draft about how we would maintain contact with some veteran free agents and cuts. We still have around 9 spots available on the 90 man roster.

Interesting. I will take Both of them as long as the price is right. Then we can cut Jake O'connell and Kyle McCarthy.

Tiiiiiiight

My boi JackSmack apparently has trouble with names and can't spell, but he delivers!

As kc-land said^^^^, if cheap, these are great signings. Veterans (who can still play) for depth. I could see both of these guys holding important roles this season.

I would be thrilled with one of these signings.

I would lose my mind if we signed both.

I talked about Clark a while back, I see him as a quality pick up. A guy that can still contribute. O.J., well anything we can keep doing to have better safety depth than last year I'm all over it.

I'd be very happy to see Dallas Clark catch the winning TD against the Broncos.

I'd rather Hillis catch it if I had a choice. I don't have anything against Peyton... yet.

It's worth it to bring in Clark if for nothing more than to get some insight into Manning. I would think that would be a positive to having Clark on the roster in addition to his ability to open things up in the passing game. I would prefer a developmental tight end as our #3, but it wouldn't hurt to sign him to a modest 1 year deal and see what he can do in camp. Maybe Moeaki isn't doing as well on the recovery front as anticipated?

I would say Maneri's roster spot should be tenuous at best even without the possibility of Clark being added. Maybe Mims or Stephenson can get some action in jumbo packages.

Would love to see both guys signed. Of the two though I would be more shocked I guess to see Clark sign with us.

I do. 2003 playoffs in the no punt game. 2006 playoffs. Then refusing to visit us and signing with our biggest rival. Other than John Elway I cannot think of a player who has haunted us more.

You don't have 1 thing against Peyton yet?

Brb removing you from my imaginary friends list.

I am a manning fan and own a jersey (Colts of course) and it is retired until he no longer plays for the Broncos. Till then I will cheer our D every time they give him hell on the field.

Yeah I forgot about our playoff muggings. We definitely didn't help ourselves but, ok you convinced me, I'll be Tebowing for the non-bounty smackdown of the Fivehead.

At this point, the only thing that would really improve this team or give us one more win or not is QB play. I'd like to sign Clark and Atogwe but I don't think they improve this team anything more than marginally, if at all.

I'd say that both of these players would significantly improve our depth, and Clark would be a great consistent option for Cassel/Quinn/Stanzi (please be Stanzi). Atogwe would probably be a better Jack option than anything we currently have (save for playing Berry at Jack and having someone else play deep with Lewis)
