http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/49464/projecting-2013-cap-room-for-afc-north

We are projected to by top 3 in the league for cap room next season at 40m.

I think this is great as we will have a few young guys that must be close to needing new deals. Guys like Haden and Mack come to mind.

But the main reason I think this is great is that I think we go 8-8 this season.
Which IMO means it might finally be time to make a bit of FA splash.

I love how the Steelers are projected 10m over. It's going to be hard to keep all them young WR's they have.

Sucks the Bengals have so much and a pretty talented team.

Is next season the season we have to hit the cap floor? Iirc it is.

We need to reup Mack this year some time but Haden has at least a couple years left on his contract. Bengals have more players to resign.
Next year I think we have to spend 89% of the cap money.
We have off the top of my head Cribbs,Dawson,Watson and Fujita as free agents after this year. I see Watson and Fujita gone. Cribbs and Dawson are on the bubble 50-50 we resign those two.
As usual it will be an interesting off season again.
I looked some contracts up.
Mack,Ward and Lauvao become free agents in 2014.
Haden,Rubin and Sheard in 2015.
Add Sheldon Brown as a free agent after this year.

True, but with the guys they have in their locker room, that situation easily can implode as well...

After we cut the fat from this team, go after Mike Wallace and pay him more than the Steelers will.

Looking at our 2013 free agents:

Marcus Benard
Sheldon Brown
Josh Cribbs
Scott Fujita
Reggie Hodges
Brandon Jackson
Kaluka Maiava
MoMass
Juqua Parker
Raymond Ventrone
Ben Watson

I won't lose sleep if all of these guys aren't resigned. I'd like to keep Hodges, Cribbs and Benard, everyone else can hit the road if they don't perform.

Some 2014 guys that could be cut next year:
Oniel Cousins
Montario Hardesty
Senneca Wallace
Carlton Mitchell
Usama Young

Mike Wallace would look amazing in Brown.

He is very good, but something rubs me the wrong way about him. Other than the jersey on his back, he just kind of seems like a guy who would be a diva if not in a good situation.

Wonder what other big name FA's are there next year (waits for someone to look for me) Laughing

The market for LB and DE was almost non existent.

But WR and CB looks really good. I didn't bother checking anything else.
