| Quote: | Eagles LT Jason Peters and Ravens OLB/DE Terrell Suggs stand to lose millions of dollars because their Achilles injuries both fall under the "Nonfootball injury" designation.
Both players claim they were injured during off-site training drills, but the contract only covers injuries that occur at the team's facility. The Eagles have already touched base with Peters' representatives about an "amicable" financial reduction. Peters could lose $3.25 million of his $7.9 base salary for 2012. |

That's the dumbest thing I have ever read a football player do. That idiot jeopardized millions of dollars just to train outside of the team facility? Players around the league take this same risk as well? I wonder how many contracts are structured that way and how many players have ruined money by training outside of the team's facility. |

Yes, yes, and most likely all, as that seems like it would be a standard clause.
The first tear falls under the workman's comp area of law; just because he trained off-site doesn't necessarily preclude recovery, as long as, it was during the scope of employment. One would need to look at the contract, the CBA, and caselaw to find potential avenues for a recovery of money. There are a few potential legal issues there. I'm sure he'll get some some settlement from the team.
The second tear could be a decent case under the area of a products liability case (strict or negligent) due to a manufacturer's defect. Boy, would I like to have him as a client for these two cases. I could retire after one client. |

Right. I think we'll be around $16.5 M under the cap (where we are right now) regardless of this news with Peters. _________________

Yeah, he'll be adequate. But, footballinsiders did an article about how Peters was statistically the best LT in football last year... and no one else was really close. |

And it's not even just skill level or talent at LT we're talking about. Losing Peters means we lose the continuity we had with our 5 lineman, the communication, the synchronization in silence. _________________

People dismiss losing Peters entirerly to quickly. He was the Best LT in football. That's saying something. He pulled better, had more downfeild blocks and was the overall calming influence on the O-Line. I'm glad we signed Bell, but this is a step backwards.
Vick, more then alot of other QB's, needs that consistancy in front of him. _________________

So I guess the Eagles could have taken Peters' entire salary but decided to only take what they are paying Bell this year. At least they didn't screw Peters over. _________________

If someone took 3.5 million of my money I think I would feel screwed over. _________________
