Would anyone be opposed to bringing in Marcus McNeill to compete with Webb at LT?
I know he has had injury issues in the past, but if we could bring in a x2 pro bowl LT for cheap why not? |

If he was cheap and healthy - he'd already be signed by someone.
And we already have a LT ready to compete with Webb - say hello to Chris Williams moving back to the outside. _________________

The Bears front office, coaches, and scouts all believe that our line is young enough and good enough as it is. We have a new system and a 1st rounder returning. Omiyale is gone, Martz is gone, Marshall is here. McNeill hasn't been healthy for a few seasons now, and is no doubt going to ask for much more than he's worth by his agent flashing a rookie pro bowl season in front of every GM's eyes.
I'm giving Emery and Tice the benefit of the doubt, they've done nothing not to get at least that. |

McNeill has a degenerative spinal cord injury, he cannot play this game at a high level, if at all. _________________ Martellus Bennet highlight video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lP8fHN53t0 |

| Chris Williams is gonna be the guy to push Webb. The Bears aren't going into the offseason with a boatload of G/Cs and only two realistic options at T just to keep Williams at guard. |

I expect Williams to come to camp looking to prove something after being moved several times and going into a contract year. If Webb is able to hold him off then that's probably a good thing for the Bears. The competition will bring out the best play from whichever guy ends up on the field. _________________

We know that he hasn't been good enough to convince the coaches that a 7th round pick shouldn't be thrust into a starting role, instead of Williams. We know that he hasn't been good enough to even win the ORT postion. Maybe this year. Maybe his contract year. Maybe. |

We know that in Tices first year Chris Williams was the starter at LT until he got injured. _________________

Williams has played all of 7 games as a starter at LT I believe. He did have some terrible games - but was moved inside more as a victim of circumstance (and injury) than an indictment against his play at Tackle. _________________

So Forte and Cutler won't be our starters this year because they got hurt last year? I guess that settles the Forte not signing issue.
I fully appreciate the continuity argument for the Oline, but if you have a quality OLT that gets hurt, when he comes back from injury you stick him back at OLT. Now if Williams has healed up more and figured out the NFL game at OLT, I'm all in, but that is not a given at this point with his track record. |

Thats a ridiculous comparison. I didn't say Chris Williams was an all-pro or pro-bowler, merely that we haven't seen enough of him at LT to write him off. But if you want to go all straw man up in here - go ahead. _________________
