I was thinking how much better this site would be if there was a Notifications feature similar to Facebook and on the iPhone. I think it would generate a lot more conversation as people would know who replied to them in what thread instantly. It would also avoid cluttering people's email inbox and having to constantly refresh. What do you think?

| I like this idea, but i don't know how it could be done. I don't use the email thing because of the amount of emails I get. |

You can "Watch Topic for Replies" and it will email you everytime.

Simply go to the Forum Index and click the "View your posts" link right underneath the Google Search bar and it will show you all of the threads you've posted in the last 30 days and if there are any new responses.
It's probably the closest thing to a Notifications feature a message board will ever have.

That's not the same though. Why is a notification button not well received here?
I think FF should implement it so if someone quotes you, then you receive a notification. You click it, and it brings you straight to the quote.
That would great.

That's not the same though. Why is a notification button not well received here?

Yeah, this forum software is 10 years old. I don't think updated it to a more modern software is in the plans.

I understand it's probably not possible, but if the technology was introduced to allow that to happen, it would be a great addition to FF.

If you look under the post box there are four clickable things. The last one is "notify me when a reply is posted"
Is that not what you are looking for?

There are three different ways to follow your topics and posts.
1. Check 'Notify me when a reply is posted' when making a post.
2. Click 'View your posts' from the home page.
3. Click 'Find all posts by username' in your profile.
We have no plans to add any other notification options. |
