Don't listen to what the media is saying.
Nnamdi was amazing last year. |
Good, but not amazing. But I agree, media was too harsh. _________________

I get what you're saying. Thus why subjective lists like this will forever be debated until the end of time.
I think everyone should have done their top 10 list without an actual 1-10 ranking (like I did). Essentially, the term"better" is a descriptive word that means different things to different people, so there really is no correct answer in those types of discussions. |
Yeah cause when you say Top 10 Eagles. That means what they have done AS eagles.
1. LeSean McCoy
2. Trent Cole
3. Todd Herremans
4. Jason Peters
5. DeSean Jackson
6. Micheal Vick

LMAO i didn't even notice I erased him when I moved some names around he was 4 but I had herremans at 5 and peters 3 so he got lost. No wonder I got to 9 and I had no one else so I threw in Mathis for a solid year. _________________

Most successful player outside of the Eagles. Took his team single-handily to the NFC Championship game. You can argue how, but not what he did, he was a flat out beast! _________________

Jackson only didn't make my top 10 because I had Peters on the list. That was clearly expressed in my post.
Also the 9-10 guys on my list ahead of Jackson doesn't disappear in games.
I also don't believe we all used the same criteria for ranking the players. _________________

I'll take that over disappearing completely in a game. I'll can live with Babin's run defense for 17 sacks. _________________

So would Marshawn Lynch and Stephen Jackson, and RTs on run first teams everywhere
To be fair it was said in jest, but its a huge hole in his game. And our run defense at times was our achillies heel, especially on the strong side and up the middle when backs got by our tackles. _________________

RTs or RBs? Even if it was in jest, it still doesn't change my opinion that Babin is a better player on the Eagles than Jackson is. The premier RB in a run-first offense might get some inflated stats, and I'm guessing you're insinuating that Babin was able to hone in on pass-rushing to attain his amount of stats.
Sure, but that's a flawed statement that can't apply to the Jackson argument. Babin is asked to rush the passer and he does it well. Sure his play is flawed against the run.
Jackson is asked to catch footballs on Sunday and sometimes he disappears. There is no "plus side" to that. He's either catching balls or he's not. He's useless half the time.
Babin is useful even half the time and that's enough for me to put him above Jackson. _________________

I propose that the list be based on:
1. Who's play/skillset has the largest impact (requires at least some play time in our scheme)
2. If you found out they were traded tomorrow, how much of a loss would it be to our team (not considering depth. Just their individual contribution)
Based on that, I would change my list to:
Vick: slight edge over McCoy because Vick makes life easier for our running game. Our whole offense is based on his skillset.
McCoy: most consistent playmaker. Very unique runner.
Cole: edges past nnamdi because he is a force vs the run and rushing the passer.
Nnamdi: last year was considered bad and he was still fantastic. Position versatile and the best in the league at what he does best.
Herremans: I don't consider him elite at any position but he's proven to be versatile on the line and is consistently very good.
Babin: one-trick pony that is very good at his trick...
DeSean: has ability to be in the top group but lets external factors affect his play.
Maclin: wont take over a game, but steady on a team of flashiness.
Celek: similar to herremens. Not elite but versatile and reliable.
Mathis: edges out Jenkins to make my list. Our best interior lineman last year. Held everything together while the rookies went through growing pains.
*already consider peters a loss and on par with losing anyone else in that top group. Hope we get to see him play again. |
