Trying to get a head start on next year.. Based on pass rushing/run stopping capabilities, who are the best overall DE's(preferably right end) in the 2013 NFL Draft? Who goes first? _________________

This class is stacked with them...
The obvious guys are...
Sam Montgomery
Barkevious Mingo (though he's got some growin to do if he's gonna be a DE)
Alex Okafor
Devin Taylor
Jackson Jeffcoat (See note on Mingo)
Conelius Carradine (I see a JPP like year this year. Kids gonna be a stud, similarly athletic)
William Gholston (Though i'm not convinced he isn't all hype, i need to see more games of him)
Bjorne Werner (may be a LE or RE i'm not sure)
Dion Jordan (May be a stretch to be a RE, but he has the frame for it, it'll take some work for him to get big enough for it though)
All players could push the 1st round. _________________

My favorites guys that fit your bill are Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery, William Gholston, and Margus Hunt. Mingo needs to fill out more but he's still only 21 years old, he has time to grow. _________________

Brandon Jenkins FSU and John Simon of tOSU might be worthy additions to be on the watch list also _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

I've been notorious for hating Jenkins. I think Jenkins shouldn't be drafted before the 4th round. He just isn't any good IMO, there's nothing that makes him a good NFL player.... _________________

Hunt doesn't strike me as a 4-3 RDE...a 3-4 RDE? Yes. _________________

Ghoulston
Hunt 3-4 end
Taylor

I think he can play both. Hunt is a freak, with his size/speed/athleticism combo, he is not limited to any one scheme. _________________

Hunt is freaky but he's not going to play 4-3 RDE. He'd play LDE in the 4-3. _________________

Why can't he play either? Just curious to see your reasoning behind that. _________________

Justin Smith could play 4-3 RDE too and did. But you put guys in both the best place for them to succeed and the best place for your team to succeed.
That's why.
It has nothing to do with him being incapable, he just won't be asked to play there. _________________

He's an even more athletic JJ Watt. I don't think he's fast enough to play RE, but he'd be freakish as a 5T or LE. |
