I really don't get the Jones hype. He's not particularly explosive, and he plays similarly to Mingo except Mingo is more athletic.

Mingo reminds me of Clay Matthews. I'd take him every day.

BS.

Not compared to Mingo.

He's ONLY a 3-4 ROLB (or SOLB or whatever you wanna call it, the "Rush" LB in a 3-4 over the LT, not on the right side).

That would be the WOLB(Weakside OLB), SOLB is the Strongside over the TE.

I agree that he will be a constant good pass rusher, but he has shown more coverage than Justin Houston did and is now playing SOLB for us.

To start, I disagree. But we'll get back to that, what you said and that are 2 very different things. That's like me saying that Antonio Brown isn't particularly fast...and then when you question it saying not compared to Mike Wallace.

There's a difference between being not explosive and explosive just like there's a difference between having elite explosiveness and great explosiveness. So is he not explosive? Or does he just not have elite explosiveness? Lets clarify that.

Yeah, I should have clarified more. It's the elite explosiveness aspect. I just see him as really similar to Ronnell Lewis to be honest. Jones is a good player but I don't see what makes one give him a top five grade, at least not yet.

I don't see Ronnell Lewis at all. I think Jones plays much better in space while Lewis has more physicality to his game. Jones is also a much better pass rusher...

Yea, I mean I could see Bruce Irvin although I think Jones is stronger and uses his hands better...I see Von Miller but understand if not everyone sees it. Just not getting Lewis.

I think what really makes me like Jones is that he's a complete player and a great pass rusher, it's rare to find those type of guys at OLB.

Wouldn't say Von Miller either, although that's a closer comparison. If he had Mingo's explosion then exactly yes...

I haven't done extensive scouting on either, but I have season tickets to LSU games, and I've noticed that Mingo is in on just about every play.

I haven't seen nearly enough of either of these players to make a fair judgement, but based on the limited amount of time that I saw these two guys, I'm gonna have to lean towards Jones, for now; he seems like the more complete player.

Lately, I've seen a lot of people on here raving about Mingo's pass rushing ability and even going as far as saying that he is the best pass rusher to come out of college since Mario Williams was the first overall pick back in '06. While that is a pretty drastic statement, I know I will have a close eye on Mingo.

Does Mingo have any pass rush moves at all?

Quote me, Dion Jordan will be picked ahead of these guys.

I like Jordan a lot but he has nothing that Mingo doesn't have.

Jones vs. So. Car wasn't that special rushing the passer, but he's fast and fluid in coverage.

Watching that reminded me just how excited I am that the Rams got Watkins. Laughing
