Goldson: ‘I just hope something will get done soon. If not, I’ll still be a 49er’

| Quote: | | Goldson spoke Tuesday night with SiriusXM NFL Radio about his contract status, his offseason and his expectations. On a positive note, he doesn’t sound self-absorbed, egotistical or entitled — even though he is coming off his first Pro Bowl season. In this article by Marvez – who co-hosted the Sirius’ show with former 49er Randy Cross — Goldson’s most reassuring quote for the 49ers’ sake is this one: “All these one-year/one-year (contracts) is not what any player would want. We know what we put our bodies through and what we do for our teams. But it’s all good. There’s no love lost or anything like that. I just hope something will get done. If not, I’ll still be a 49er.” Monday’s deadline is defined here according to Article 10, Section 2, Item K of the CBA: “Any Club designating a Franchise Player shall have until 4:00 p.m., NY time, on July 15 |

It also has to do with people lazily glancing at INT numbers on the year.. +/or remembering a few special plays made by some dude with #38 on his jersey. Goldson's a hit or miss guy. I like what he brings. I just don't like him enough for the 8 million per year he's after, and I don't trust his long-term mentality to want to hand him a lot of guaranteed cheddar. |
I don't know... if he accepts to be paid in cheddar, I might reconsider it. I just happen to have some cheddar in the fridge I should get rid of. Can I send it to the team headquarter to help pay for the franchise tag? |
Well, as long as it's some of that great English cheddar. No American or Canadian cheddar for an NFL wanna-be-star. |
Take that back! Canadian cheddar is cheesetastic! |
Bah! Cross the border and buy it in Wisconsin or Vermont, or Oregon is you happen to be out west. |
I grew up in Dubuque, Iowa, which is right across the river from Wisconsin, so I hate Wisconsinites (reasons: terrible drivers, love to have sex with animals, etc.) but no cheese is better than Wisconsin cheese. _________________

Edit: Best cheese in the US. I've had better cheese in Germany and I'm sure France and Italy have better cheese, but Wisconsin owns the US cheese market. You can find world class cheese all over the state, especially in the Madison and (puke) Green Bay areas (Uplands in Dodgeville, WI has won several international cheese awards for its pleasant ridge reserve). Wisconsin produces more cheese than any other state and it actually produces so much cheese that it has to import quite a bit of milk from Iowa. They also have the only Master Cheesemaker Program in the United States and it is supposedly world class. It takes a minimum of 13 years to get certified. (Also, like big9er said, I have had some ridiculously good cheese in the Vermont/NH/Connecticut area.)
But enough with Wisconsin cheese, lets talk about Iowa corn, the backbone of the world's food supply. Yeah, corn!

It's funny that you brought up maple syrup. I'm going to Maine in a few weeks and I can't wait to get some good maple syrup. It might not be as great as Québec maple syrup, but it should be a lot better than what I'm used to.
From Dashon Goldson to Québec maple syrup, this forum covers everything. _________________

The Matts have said there is no progress. Goldson himself said there was no offer on the table last year. So, that means they were still far apart as far as terms are concerned. _________________

49ers seem very comfortable with his relatively low cap number (for franchised players) and making Goldson prove he is worth a big contract. _________________

There's a flip side to this though. If Goldson plays lights out again, then he will probably command even more money than this year. I hope they come to a middle ground and get a deal done today. If we do it, then this will work out for both sides in the long term. 1 less guy to worry about locking up and another position to not worry about finding a guy to fill. _________________

| I doubt anything gets done, but it's nbd. He said he'll sign the tender and hopefully the sides work on something after the season. |

I would love an Ahmad Brooks type of contract. Lots of hypothetical fluff. If he plays like the best in the league, he gets paid like the best in the league. If not, he gets a very reasonable base salary and we're not up to our necks in feces. _________________
