I really hope not. We are just getting things going in te right direction. We don't need this kind of shake up.

Credit to TeHDruid for breaking the story in the off topic thread. I thought it was worth it's own thread.

Heard this on the radio. Don't think it's a big deal. They said they heard the Browns COULD be up for sale. Not that they are.

I wouldn't doubt it, but getting a buyer may be tough.

That was going to be a question of mine. Who would you guys want as a owner if the Browns were sold?

True

Though they mentioned something on the radio about NFL owners not being able to hold ownership in gambling enterprises.

The Rooney family owns race tracks and they weren't bought out until recenetly.

Ralph Wilson has been involved in Horse Racing (breeder and owner).

Guys on the radio said that the Rooney brother who owns the tracks had to be bought out to obey the rules.

Ralph Wilson still owns the Bills and he is active in horse racing.

I don't see anything like that in the bylaws

You could be right, but owning and breeding horses is different than owning the horse track.

I just heard that having ownership in a gambling institution is not allowed.

i would much rather not have the entire downtown area monopolized by Gilbert.

but a change in ownership wouldn't be a bad thing IMO. i don't think Lerner has ever been all in with the Browns. just please no talk/rumors about the browns moving. i might cry.

So you are allowed to breed horses and bet on them but cannot own the facility that accepts the bets?

Depends on who is interested. The guy from Philly is interested in the Bills so he can move them to LA. If he cannot buy the Bills the Browns and Rams are secondary.

So again be careful what you wish for as a person with no loyalty to the city may up and move the team to a larger market to get more revenue.

I figure it has more to do with casinos. Maybe places that may allow you to bet on the teams you own?

Again, just heard it on the radio, it could be completely wrong and you are probably right. It's just what they said.

They have goofy rules. I would think that would stop Gilbert from owning a baseball team as well. Don't want another Blacksox scandal.
