Well deserved for both. There is a good thing going on Houston right now. It took Kubiak awhile but I think he finally has the team that he envisioned when he took over in Houston. He was my favorite HC candidate back in 2006, and was quite bummed when MN didnt get him. Brilliant offensive mind.

This is GREAT news. Kubiak has been hit-or-miss, with two solid seasons under his belt. Smith has been money for us. It was long assumed that Kubiak and Smith were a package deal, but the staggers in the years tells me they're not.

If Kubiak falters again, we can feasibly get rid of him and not look to do the same to Smitty.

GREAT news. Very Happy

Good move by McNair to extend both Kubiak and Smith. Smith is quietly one of the best GM's in the NFL and the team loves playing for Kubiak. Only question I have is why did Kubiak decline a 4th year when he had a choice of getting a 4th year?

Probably feels confident that he's going to do a good job and deserve another extension sooner rather than later. Chance to make more money.

Yeah that could be a good reason for that. Some of the Texans fans in the Texans board said the same thing. Smart move by him. Laughing

Yeah but Kubiak wasn't good when you weren't a winning team? Until Wade Philips came, most of Texans fan wanted rid of him?

Good move by Houston. They're a team on the rise. Kubiak and Smith are a large reason behind that success, good move by the team to keep them.

Meh...47-49 is pretty OK considering his year in 2010 was due to how horrible the defense was, and the suspensions Cushing and Duane Brown and not to mention the injury to DeMeco Ryans. I'm not sure any team would have been over .500 with our horrible secondary. Wade Phillips was a blessing in disguise for us when we got him last season. Very Happy

Weren't Texan fans talking about how Kubiak should be fired before this year? Then again, Giant fans did the same with Coughlin. The funny thing is that I did a GM Mock in December and a Giants fan actually fired Coughlin in that mock.

I feel like up until last season, when the Texans were actually good, most Texans fans wanted Kubiak gone. I don't know much about the guy at all, all I know is from seeing what the Texans fans all seemed to want here on these forums, but its seemed to all change after this one good season. I want to see if it was just a fluke, or if they can sustain being consistently good.
