|
Welcome to the 2012 Eagles Forum headquarters.
I, Phire, was the team captain of the 2007-2008 Eagles Forum football team (I was a free safety). I was young then, naive, and unsuspecting. We had a great time though.
http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=138384
Now I am back, and offering the same opportunity, to create a football squad for the 2012 Eagles forum. But this time I’m going to do it right. It will be fun, there may be competition (based on competition), and there will actually be structure, organization, and professionalism.
I will serve as the coach and will oversee depth chart competitions and make any final decisions.
Here’s the basic premise:
We will create a roster and depth chart.
-Depth Chart-
QB
RB1
RB2
WR1
WR2
TE
LT
LG
C
RG
RT
LE
DT
DT
RE
WLB
MLB
SLB
SS
FS
CB1
CB2
P
K
**KR/PR (Kick returners and Punt returners, please include in your sign-up that you are interested in fulfilling this role.
Roster size is unlimited.
Procedures:
You will apply to try-out for the team. When you do, you will provide your name (forum name), desired number, some metrics (height and weight only, no 40 times or age necessary), let’s try to keep the metrics real-life, it won’t give you a competitive advantage anyways. You will also give your desired position and a short bio, what kind of player you are. Keep it short, about 3 lines is enough. Your bio/history won’t really give you a competitive advantage but there may be circumstances where being a traditional QB/athletic QB will create some interesting situations.
Example:
| Quote: |
Phire
#25
5’10, 168lbs
Free Safety
Bio – I am Phire and will try out for free safety. I excel in coverage and am known to be a ball-hawk. I aspire to play like Brian Dawkins although I am not known for big hits and need to improve my tackling.
|
Competition:
As you can see, if multiple people try-out for a single position it will require competition in training camp. These competitions will vary, but will be fun/simple and will decide who moves up and down the depth chart. If you lose out of a position battle, you can fill in somewhere else or be a back-up.
Chances are there won’t be a lot of competition for center.
We will need managers too, equipment managers to make jerseys, and perhaps coaches to oversee challenges and decide positional battles.
The goal of this is for forum activity/unity and some entertainment during the post-draft dry season.
I think we have the members, and the activity, to have a successful team!
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE THE CUT?
Also I believe 808 and Nabbs will be part of my coaching staff, if they so desire _________________

Also there is very little commitment to this. Most of you will just sign up and be on the team.
Commitment levels will vary depending on position. Obviously quarterback might be a position where there are multiple members, and only 1 starting quarterback is necessary.
In that case a game will be played (that I will think of) to determine who wins the battle in practice.
EQUIPMENT MANAGER (WHO WILL MAKE TEAM AVATARS *Jerseys*) CAN ALSO HAVE A PLAYER POSITION.

Philadelphia (forum) Kaboodles:
Named after my cat's favorite type of cat food.

#54 - LE/KR/PR
6'1 200
I have never played football, but my bust lenght arms fits the #54 of Brandon Graham. I'm relentless and a nice guy, so I fit the Andy DE's mold to perfection, my first step lacks a little quickness, but my wicked drunk dance moves will make me a bigger star than Kyle Orton. _________________

#7
CB/S
6 ft 200
Bio - I am willy_law I am not your typical corner, I thrive in zone coverage and tend to be a bit weaker when matched up man vs man. For this reason people think I would make a better Safety allowing me to patrol the deep ends. However, I also posses the ability to make hits in the backfield and am not afraid to mix it up. Perhaps the use of me in Charles Woodson role is better. ( Legitly my strengths and weaknesses, high school football, could have played D3) _________________

Both of you are added to the squad, welcome aboard.
Mr. Willy "I fought the" Law, I want you to try out at corner-back. I believe your athletic abilities are adequate to play CB and instead of dodging your weaknesses, our coaching staff and myself will work with you to improve upon them. _________________

Should I give my playing weight when I actually worked out, or my weight now that I quit football and lifting due to a pinched nerve I've had for 2 years?
I'm 6'3, my playing weight is 235. My current weight is 207.
I played in a 3-4, and played both strong side OLB and weakside ILB, which we called the SAM and the TED, though I preferred SAM.
I would mostly set the edge against the run (we played a lot of spread option teams) and cover the tight ends or halfbacks.
Then I'm not the most explosive pass rusher, I'm not a Demarcus Ware. More of a Ryan Kerrigan/Chris Long. I have a good bullrush, rip and swim moves, and I get there by hustle, not explosiveness.
I was always too tall and stiffed hipped for backpedaling though, so I much prefer a man-to-man system. I also prefer press coverage, as I don't feel as comfortable in open field. I also have terrible jumping ability. _________________
