Quote:
The catalyst for the change apparently came in March when Cruz fired his agent, Malik Shareef, and signed on with Tom Condon’s Creative Artists Agency. Cruz, who was once seeking a contract worth $10 million-$11 million per season, has apparently lowered his demands to a payday much closer to what the Giants are offering.

The Giants are offering Cruz a contract that's worth nearly $8 million per year after they initially were only willing to pay $7 million a year.

Cruz knows he has to take the contract the Giants are offering or play for the 1-year, $2.879 million first round tender contract he was assigned.

The Giants reportedly view him as a slot receiver which is why they aren't willing to pay him over $10 million a year.

Neither Hakeem Nicks nor Victor Cruz was in attendance at Giants OTAs. Tom Coughlin sounded uncertain why Nicks was missing.

I was listening to the radio today and the reporter was saying that June 19th is the big date to look out for. Thats when the Giants can lower the tender money to minimum, and Cruz wont want that.

I believe if they were going to peruse him they would have done so already.

Cruz and team apparently "not close" on deal...

anybody else starting to feel like its getting into sign-and-trade territory (or rather, trade-and-sign, i guess it would be)....?

It actually be a sign-and-trade-and sign

As Cruz needs to sign his tender in order to be traded and then he sign a new contract with his new team. I believe the Giants will be able to get Nicks and Cruz both under contracts. They normally do not let great players go

good call. Laughing

i don't doubt that they will both be on the team this year, but i don't think that JR will keep two WRs at $8+M apiece. i just don't think you can. Randle has shown he has the tools to be a legitimate piece, and if you can see anything in Jernigan that helps the decision. idk, would you (the collective, "you's"), if you were a GM operating in this cap environment, tie yourself up with $16-20M/yr for your two wideouts?

I'm not sure we can afford both either. I know the cap is going up, but led to believe not by a huge amount. And we have many players to potentially get new contracts next year as well.

Spending the money elsewhere will probably work out better for us anyway.

If he doesny sign his tender by the 19th, do we sign him at 600,000 or pay him the 2 and a half mill?
We can save two million but I'm sure he will get pissed off about it and might lose future years with him.
