Eh, I don't see the point of bringing him in.

Can he be an elite redzone threat? Sure. But with Williams, Stewart, Cam, and Tolbert we really don't need another redzone threat. Olsen and Gettis can be big targets in the endzone, but we will more than likely just pound it in.

Don't see the point? Plax is a huge target and a proven veteran with a ring. The Panthers have no proven option outside of Smitty. The Panthers have a ton of potential at WR, but nothing they can hang their hat on. I would welcome Plax here in Carolina. He amassed 8 TD's last season playing with a below average QB. I doubt it will happen, but I would understand why they could make this decision.

Our offense was top 5 in the league last year, how much better would we truly be able to get with Burress? We have a lot of young talent on the team and Burress would hinder their development. He's 34, we are not seeing the SB this year, it does not make sense for us.

Hey!

They're not going to trade Percy now.

Panthers need to do something. If SS goes down the Panthers immediately have the worst recieving crew in the league.

If not Plax then who?

Standing pat is putting to much pressure on Cam. Even though he is amazing.

Plaxico is slow and struggles gain sepearation. It isn't like getting him is going to prevent us from taking a nosedive if Smith happens to get hurt.

Besides, we still have easily the best running game in the league, a very solid offensive line, and LaFell, Olsen, and Gettis are nice options in the passing game. I think we'd be alright. Not nearly as good as we would be with Smith on the field - a #1 receiver like him has that kind of impact - but still OK. And it isn't like there is any guy out there that could fill in the void that we'd have if Smith went down so I'm fine with what we've got right now.

If Cam goes down we immediately have one of the worst QB situations in the league. If Charles Johnson goes down, DE isn't looking too pretty. If Gross goes down, we've got some OL issues. And so on with lots of other positions.

Should we sign veterans at every position on the team just for the sake of injury concerns? I understand that Smith has more injury history than Cam/Gross/CJ, but still the fact remains that an injury to any major contributor will really hurt us, we can't prepare for everything, nobody can.
