Oilers name Jordan Eberle assistant captain on a permanent basis while Taylor Hall and Justin Schultz will switch off on wearing the "A." The Oilers are really handing the team to their kids. _________________

On a similar note, the Flyers just named Giroux their captain. _________________

Nick Schultz not Justin Schultz will switch wearing the "A" with Hall. _________________

It's an insider article. What's the list look like? I think I remember last year's list being horrid. _________________

Towes
Stamkos
Couture
Staal
Tavares
P. Kane
Hall
Doughty
Karlsson
Marchand
Pietrangelo
Seguin
Benn
Perron
Skinner
Hedman
Lucic
Gagner
E. Kane
Shattenkirk
Eberle
Berglund
Varlamov
Myers
Simmonds
Tavares at 5 behind Couture?
In the dude's defense for some omissions he did state this:
| Quote: | I once again selected players based on their career-to-date performance in the regular season and the playoffs.
Also, by looking for an established track record of success rather than future potential, you won't find any of the league's talented 2011-12 rookies on this list. That even includes the NHL's reigning rookie of the year Gabriel Landeskog of the Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton's Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, although I have no doubt they will feature prominently in future lists. |
Still the list is awful. _________________

This is the same guy who's infamous for leaving Tavares entirely off of the list last year. _________________

Devils re-signed Travis Zajac for 8 years/$46 Million
I would have lost it if we didn't bring him back, especially after losing our captain. _________________

The top 25 list looks like someone just threw those names in a randomizer and posted it. That list is truly deplorable.
Zajac's deal is a little too rich for my taste, but I understand it from New Jersey's perspective given their particular sensitivity right now to keeping their current cornerstone players. _________________

I saw the Justin part and just assumed it was a mistake by you. That'd be absolutely insane if they gave him an A...
Top 25 under 25 obviously is pretty bad, but damn Canada has some freaking amazing talent on the up and coming... I mean it goes without saying, but looking at the names on that list just makes it stand out. Wow. _________________

I think it's a little high as well but like you said with Parise leaving the Devils really needed to sign one of their young players to a long term deal. They basically had to do this. _________________

Need some fantasy hockey advice. I'm in a league with no bench, 5 forwards and two utility guys so you dont have to have any defesemen if you don't want. Scoring is really simple just 1 point for a goal, one for an assist, an extra point for a shorty and an extra point for a game winner. Two goalies and you get two points for a win and an extra two for a shutout. It's a 10 team league, I had the 7th pick and this is my team:
Ovechkin
Tavares
E. Staal
Thornton
Getzlaf
Eriksson
Voracek
Price
Niemi
So really the only things that matter are scoring and winning as a goaltender. I took Voracek in the last round just because I wanted a Flyer to root for, but I'm thinking there's better options out there. We're limited to 10 moves this year but my options in FA are
Krejci
Semin
E. Kane
Jagr
Parenteau
Should I make a move? I'm thinking Semin might be a nice addition and hope that him and Staal click on their first line.
I was thinking Voracek would play with Giroux and I think he'd put up some pretty good points with him but he's playing today with Talbot and Couturier. That could change when Briere gets back though. He will be playing the point on the Flyers PP1 but I'd imagine Semin will also be in the Canes PP1 _________________

I'd go Semin, I think he's going to have a big year. I'm not much of a fantasy hockey guy, though.. _________________
