Did anyone mention The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? The first one was pretty damn good, the remake was downright atrocious.

Which one? There's been like a thousand remakes of that film. Laughing

There was one with Matthew McConahay that I remember seeing. Sucked something fierce.

The one with Jessica Biel was pretty good.

There's only been one remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The rest are sequels or something. I think there was even a prequel.

That one was laughably awful! It was completely ridiculous.

It wasn't bad. I didn't think the one with Jordana Brewster was bad either.

I liked the Texas Chainsaw Massacre with R. Lee Ermey. I believe its the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning which is the prequel to 2003's Texas Chainsaw Massacre which was also good. Can't wait till next year when the 3-D film comes out. Leatherface is an all-time great in horror films.

They're all so similar, it's hard to tell.

Im a horror enthusiast and actually loved the remake of the Last house on the left. The Nightmare on elm street remake was garbage.

Only because all the camera work focused on her boobs in every scene as she wore than tank top. Other than that, I don't remember anything good about it.

The remake of Friday the 13th was beyond abyssmal. It did nothing but re-hash the same old stuff. There was nothing new, to set it apart from the original. Even worse than that, was the remake of My Bloody Valentine. They added some supernatural element which was completely ridiculous and laughable. The same goes for the Black Christmas remake. The Wicker Man had to be the worst horror remake of all time though. They completely destroyed everything that made the original so good.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has to be on the worst list. I understand both movies were just film adaptations of the book, but the more recent one wasn't even worth watching while the original movie is still pretty good. The oompa loompa's were way better, Willy Wonka was way better, Charlie's grandpa was about a million times better, the songs were better, the dark humor was better. The only thing the new movie had on the old one was better effects, and even those weren't very good.

We have a winner!

Last House on the Left has to be among my top remakes... but then, it's Wes Craven paying homage to George A. Romero... you kind of have to expect it to be quality.

Among the worst, though I'm not necessarily sure it's the fault of the (English/American/Domestic) remake as much as it is that the original is just soooo incredibly great and difficult to reproduce or outdo: The Grudge (Seriously... Ju-On was creep-tastic!).

Marginally better than the original, but still better IMO was the remake of The Hills Have Eyes. The sequel was cringe-worthy, but the remake of the original by Aja was really solid.

Because both were enjoyed more for their camp than for their actual horror factor, or at least that was how I saw it, and the remake celebrated it far more than the original. I have to throw the late 80's remake of The Blob out there.

And personally, I enjoyed the remake of The Fly better than the original (oh Jeff Goldblum! when will I learn?), but to this day I still continue to find myself in the minority as someone that's actually seen the 50's original.

False. It gets criticized for being almost exactly like the original. It's not at all a bad remake.

A bad remake is what the new Total Recall film will be. A bad remake is Get Carter....

That's bcuz Burton's Willy Wonka felt more like Michael Jackson & The Neverland Ranch.
