| If we are going to stay on schedule and start FA by the 15th should we start taking about doubling up on teams? That way we have the time to get to know the other teams’ rosters and needs as well as resign FAs and the likes. |

I'd extend it TBH, a lot of the people that are signed up still havent done their re-signings and restructures nevermind the vacant teams, and with only 2days left, its going to be tight doing your own AND learning a new team etc. _________________

I agree... and for me TBH, I don't have an interest in taking on another team. If this were a "make a handful of moves and then draft" kind of thing, that's perhaps a different story. But I don't have the time or inclination to sort through another team's cap numbers, FA dealings, etc. _________________

I don't mind taking another team on or if we extend the time scale with time getting tight...whatever jch decides is cool with me. |

PLAYER RE-SIGNINGS
Packers extend the following offer to Greg Jennings
We realize Mr. Jennings will be 30 once this contract begins, so we're looking to make a deal that neither sides will regret. We look to you to be the leader of this receiving corp and stay here for the remainder of your career. So with that being said, we are offering Greg a 6 year 42 million dollar contract with 24 million being guaranteed.
2013 = 7M (5M guaranteed)
2014 = 7M (5M guaranteed)
2015 = 10M (6M guaranteed)
2016 = 7M (6M guaranteed)
2017 = 5M (2M guaranteed)
2018 = 6M (none guaranteed)
Packers extend the following offer to TJ Lang.
We love the tandem of Mr. Lang and Josh on the inside. We feel TJ is an above average guard with potential for pro bowls. We look at the deal we recently gave Josh Sitton and propose a similar deal to TJ, with a slight reduction in the money. With that being said we propose a 5 year 28 million dollar contract with 14 million being guarenteed
2013 = 6m (4m guaranteed)
2014 = 7m (6m guaranteed)
2015 = 3m (3m guarenteed)
2016 = 6m (1m guaranteed)
2017 = 6m (none guaranteed)
Packers extend the following offer to Brett Goode
Goode has been a very consistent LS for us. With that being said we would like to propose a 3 year 3million dollar contract with 1.5 million being guaranteed.
2013 = 1m (500k guaranteed)
2014 = 1m (500k guaranteed)
2015 = 1m (500k guaranteed)
Packers extend the following offer to Donald Driver
Driver has made it well known that he wants to play until he's 40. He's been a true professional during his tenure in Green Bay, so we would like to reward him with a 1 year 1 million dollar contract being completely guaranteed.
2013 = 1m (1m guaranteed)
RFA DECISIONS
Packers place a 1st Round tender on Sam Shields
Packers place a 2nd Round tender on Tim Masthay
Packers place an original round tender on Tom Crabtree
PACKER RE-STRUCTURES
Aj Hawk has been a "glue" member of the Packers defense for almost a decade. While he's been consistent he's certainly not worthy of his current contract. Which is why we are asking for Mr. Hawk to take a slight deduction in pay. We feel the new contract better represents what AJ brings to the team as far as value.
AJ Hawk current deal
2013= 7.1m
2014= 5.7m
2015= 6.2m
New deal for AJ = 4 year deal 22m with 10m being guaranteed
2013 = 5m (4m guaranteed)
2014 = 6m (4m guaranteed)
2015 =6m (2m guaranteed)
2016 = 5m (none guaranteed)
For the past three years Clay has been the Packers pass rush by himself. We love what Clay brings to our defense and would like to get his deal done as soon as possible. So we would like to offer the following contract to Mr.Matthews...
Clay Matthews current deal
2013 = 2.6m
New deal for Clay = 6 year deal 58m with 40m being guaranteed
2013 = 9m (8m guaranteed)
2014 = 9m (8m guaranteed)
2015 = 14m (12 guaranteed)
2016 = 10m (6m guaranteed)
2017 = 9m (4m guaranteed)
2018 = 7m (2m guaranteed)
Aaron Rodgers current deal
2013 = 12.4m
2014 = 10.5m
Aaron Rodgers is the best player in the NFL and is the face of the franchise. We feel we can trust Aaron to put this team in a position for a championship each year. We would like to offer Aaron an 8 year 146m deal with 106m being guaranteed.
2013 = 20m (20m guaranteed)
2014 = 25m (20m guaranteed)
2015 = 18m (16m guaranteed)
2016 = 20m (10m guaranteed)
2017 = 16m (10m guaranteed)
2018 = 16m (10m guaranteed)
2019 = 16m (10m guaranteed)
2020 = 16m (10m guaranteed) _________________

Bengals re-structure the contract of Jason Allen, CB
Current Deal:
2013 - Base Salary: 4.2 million
Re-structured deal:
2013 - Base Salary: 840k million + 1.12 million SB
2014 - Base Salary: 1.5 million + 1.12 million SB
2015 - Base Salary: 2 million + 1.12 million SB
Although Allen takes less money in this scenario, he is willing to do it because not doing it means he'll be getting cut and most likely will be signed for less than 4 million this year. This frees up a couple more million in cap space for the Bengals, which will allow them to start extending some key players' contracts. _________________

Due to his love for the game and team, Justin Smith has decided to play for free (practically)... so he doesn't wish to take his base pay of 7.5 million home with him.
New cap figures to come...

Fellas (any gals?)... let's extend the restructuring and signing period until after franchise signings can be done. (Brees got his $$$ as did Tyvon Branch.)
This will give some folks who didn't have time before plus we can recruit some GMs who are participating in other sims as those should be coming to a close soon.
The original plan was for this sim to be done before training camp opened. Since that is not going to happen, I think it is ok to slow things down to add some interested folks who didn't have time before and also spend some time with the contracts (because I know those can get complicated).
Thoughts? |

I would say slow it down a little…in the past Mocks that have been slowed down too much tend to ground to a halt and the people who are involved lose interest. |

The reason for the restructure of Freeman is because of the bad year he showed last year. Yeah it was because of the coaches and everything but he needs to show what he can do with the new wepons that we got him in last FA (V-Jack,Carl Nicks) and in the Draft (Doug Martin). The contract gives more then he would be making this year next year. He will be getting 2 million more. He has dropped 45 pounds this offseason which is a good thing. _________________

I’m not sure this is a fair deal…that is a near as makes no difference $7 million dollar difference between his expected pay and your new offer…I understand that you’re paying in more in the 2nd year of the new deal that you are in his current contract but I just don’t see it as realistic for a player or agent to accept a $7 million dollar pay cut in one year…accepting $2 or $3 million less in the last year of a deal to get a new long term contract done yes…but I don’t think I have ever seen a contract where $7 million was wiped out of the last year to sign a new deal…
I don’t know what the other GMs think? |
