The reason for the restructure of Freeman is because of the bad year he showed last year. Yeah it was because of the coaches and everything but he needs to show what he can do with the new wepons that we got him in last FA (V-Jack,Carl Nicks) and in the Draft (Doug Martin). The contract gives more then he would be making this year next year. He will be getting 2 million more. He has dropped 45 pounds this offseason which is a good thing.

I’m not sure this is a fair deal…that is a near as makes no difference $7 million dollar difference between his expected pay and your new offer…I understand that you’re paying in more in the 2nd year of the new deal that you are in his current contract but I just don’t see it as realistic for a player or agent to accept a $7 million dollar pay cut in one year…accepting $2 or $3 million less in the last year of a deal to get a new long term contract done yes…but I don’t think I have ever seen a contract where $7 million was wiped out of the last year to sign a new deal…

I don’t know what the other GMs think?

That's fine I can't give him maybe 5 million or something close to that

Not a ggod deal for a franchise QB... It get's kind of annoying when people give star players hugely back-loaded contracts too.

yep, I'm in the corner that Freeman needs more, certainly in his first year, he's the franchises future, should be backed as so Wink

The Giants would like to place a first round tender on RFA WR Victor Cruz.

We'd also like to part ways with DT Chris Canty, OC David Baas, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, OL David Diehl and FS Antrell Rolle.

These cuts save the Giant's $25,350,000 and dead weight of $7,391,667

The Giants offer a 4Year/$30M ($26M Guaranteed/$4Million Signing Bonus) contract to S Kenny Phillips

2013: $4,000,000.00 Base Salary + $750,000.00 Signing Bonus = $4,750,000.00 Cape Hit
2014: $5,000,000.00 Base Salary + $1,000,000.00 Signing Bonus = $6,000,000.00 Cap Hit
2015: $6,500,000.00 Base Salary + $1,000,000.00 Signing Bonus = $7,500,000.00 Cap Hit
2016: $6,750,000.00 Base Salary + $1,250,000.00 Signing Bonus =$8,000,000.00

This is a huge contract for Phillips I might be overpaying him but I do think he is one of the best Safeties in the league. I think this contract is a fair judge of his abilities and potential, he did just come back to have career highs in every major statistical category this year, and he'll seriously only get better from here.

I think Kenny Phillips and Freeman's contracts are right on the money. Phillips should be anywhere from 25-30m after the Tyvon Branch deal, though you could probably lessen the guaranteed money a little bit.

Cowboys restructure DeMarcus Ware's contract by turning some of the base salary into signing bonuses...

Before restructure

2013: $5.5M base + $5.303M SB + $500K GM = $11.303M cap hit
2014: $12.25M base + $1.303M SB = $13.553M cap hit
2015: $13.75M base + $1.303M SB = $15.053M cap hit

After restructure

2013: $840K base + $6.856M SB + $500K GM = $8.196M cap hit
2014: $12.25M base + $2.856M SB = $15.106M cap hit
2015: $13.75M base + $2.856M SB = $16.606M cap hit

2013 savings of $3.107M

Give me a few hours to rework things...

Also, we have some actual reworked contracts to consider. Do y'all want to use the actual reworked contracts or those submitted by GM's in this sim?

I would vote to use real contracts and the GM's would get back one of their re-signings (if they choose to use it)

Thoughts?

I think we should use the real life resignings but with the new schedule there should be a definitive cut off date for real world events.
