I have unfortunately been putting lifting on the back burner these last two weeks just because of school but got back in the gym today...and of course it had to be leg day might not feel too great tomorrow but it feels good right now.

Also when I'm working out regularly I have an appetite like no other...probably was consuming 4500 calories on the reg (especially last summer I put on about 15 pounds it was awesome)

Breaks aren't always a bad thing. Committing to taking 1-2 weeks off completely is actually what you're technically supposed to do every few months. Personally I don't strictly follow this, but usually stuff naturally comes up every few months where I won't/can't lift for a week or two so it all works out. Sometimes I'll come back even stronger.

Might have bruised my ribs today, should I take a break from the gym?

Depending on how much it hurts, maybe. But if it's just bruised ribs, I don't see how you could really make it worse by continuing to lift (I'm no doctor though).
