I want to love this defensive tackle class, but I'm having a hard time doing it. A lot of potential, but not really much known past Star. Star Lotulelei is a mammoth of a human being and going to be an absolute terror for opposing offensive lineman in the Pac-12. I expect a monster year and he'll solidify himself as a top five pick if he can do that. Hankins right now is more of a space eater than a pass rusher, but I'm hopeful he'll show some initial burst to put himself in discussion as a top twenty pick. Kwame Geather is a massive defensive tackle like Star but doesn't move nearly as well. After that, it sort of begins to be picking the defensive tackle that fits your scheme the best.
1.) Star Lotulelei [DT; Utah]
2.) Johnathan Hankins [DT; Ohio State]
3.) Kwame Geathers [DT; Georgia]
4.) Kawann Short [DT; Purdue]
5.) Jesse Williams [DT; Alabama]
6.) Sylvester Williams [DT; North Carolina]
7.) Shariff Floyd [DT; Florida]
8.) Akeem Spence [DT; Illinois]
9.) Jordan Hill [DT; Penn State]
10.) Cassius Marsh [DT; UCLA] _________________

Nice to finally see someone else have Jordan Hill in the top 10 _________________

Love Sylvester Williams this year. Also think John Jenkins should be in your top 10. He's looked better than Geathers when both have played. _________________

He's not in your top ten. But I'm worried about him for two reasons. He's undersized and almost purely a 5 technique at this point. And I'm worried about the McCargo effect. _________________

| I think Jon Jenkins should be a top 3 guy. He added more pass rush than Geathers and a 3-4 NT who has the movement skills to rush the QB go very high in the draft. |

Didn't John J start over Geathers last year? _________________

Yes. Geathers is all hype/size. _________________

This class as a lot of star power at the top of the draft, with potentially three guys who could go in the top ten when the 2013 draft rolls around. Montomgery and Mingo are both tremendously talented defensive ends, but we will need to keep a close eye on both of them in case the McCargo effect actually applies to them and not the other players but both figure to hear their names called early. Jackson Jeffcoat was a top prospect coming out of high school, and he had a big year last year and should put himself into top ten consideration by the end of the year. William Gholston has a ton of talent, but like Vernon is largely inconsistent. His stock is the most in flux this year and largely dependent on how he plays now that Jerel Worthy is in the NFL. The top list of ends stops with Okafor whose going to be a solid pro in the NFL. The rest of the defensive ends on this list are talent, but have concerns that keep them from being first round picks.
1.) Sam Montgomery [DE/OLB; LSU]
2.) Jackson Jeffcoat [DE; Texas]
3.) Barkevious Mingo [DE; LSU]
4.) William Gholston [DE; Michigan State]
5.) Alex Okafor [DE; Texas]
6.) Michael Buchanan [DE; Illinois]
7.) Dion Jordan [DE; California]
8.) Brandon Jenkins [DE; Florida State]
9.) Bjoern Werner [DE; Florida State]
10.) Wes Horton [DE; USC] _________________

Plenty of talent in this year's class, but not a ton of great talent though once you get past Jarvis Jones. Jarvis Jones likely would have been a first round pick had he declared after last year, but he's got a chance to be a top ten pick this year. Sean Porter took over for Von Miller and helped replace the production that was lost when Miller went to the NFL. Jonathan Brown is the most traditional of the linebackers in this class, but the value never really carries a ton of value.
1.) Jarvis Jones [OLB; Georgia]
2.) Sean Porter [OLB; Texas A&M]
3.) Jonathan Brown [OLB; Illinois]
4.) Gerald Hodges [OLB; Penn State]
5.) C.J. Mosley [OLB; Alabama]
6.) Jelani Jenkins [OLB; Florida]
7.) Chase Thomas [OLB; Stanford]
8.) Khaseem Green [OLB; Rutgers]
9.) Keith Pough [OLB; Howard]
10.) Alonzo Highsmith [OLB; Arkansas] _________________

Pough is a guy that stands out to me. He genuinely loves & studies the game which is exactly what I want out of a linebacker. _________________

| Im interested to see how Tank Wright does at MLB for us this year after being a solid DE the past 3 years. He's more of a prototypical LB than jerry franklin was |

The rush linebacker class doesn't appear to be very deep at this point with only three legitimate first round picks, and then a pretty steep drop off after that. Barkevious Mingo is the star of this class, and while his teammate Sam Montgomery could make the switch I think he's better served to keep his hand in the ground. Jarvis Jones has the natural athleticism as well as the experience as a stand up pass rusher at Georgia. Sean Porter replaced Von Miller and helped keep the A&M defense up to a high level. After that, you've got a ton of questions with any of the rush linebacker prospects.
1.) Barkevious Mingo [DE/OLB; LSU]
2.) Jarvis Jones [OLB; Georgia]
3.) Sean Porter [OLB; Texas A&M]
4.) Brandon Jenkins [DE/OLB; Florida State]
5.) Michael Buchannon [DE/OLB; Illinois]
6.) Chase Thomas [OLB; Stanford]
7.) Dion Jordan [DE/OLB; Oregon]
8.) Wes Horton [DE/OLB; USC]
9.) Corey Lemonier [OLB; Auburn]
10.) Nico Johnson [OLB; Alabama] _________________

The middle linebacker consists of Manti Te'o, and a bunch of other guys who likely won't hear their names called on the first two days. Or at least not early on the second day. Manti Te'o figures to hear his name called in the top twenty, but he looks like he might be only suited to play in a 4-3 defense with his lack of mass and his inability to get off of blocks. Andrew Jackson has probably the best chance to move up, as he's patterned his game after Ray Lewis. Shayne Skov and Kevin Reddick come from great programs, but both have issues they'll need to overcome if they want to get drafted relatively high. Arthur Brown has plenty of talent, but hasn't put it all together just yet. Tom Wurt came in last year and played reasonably well for the Sooners, but I expect a much better year this year.
1.) Manti Te'o [MLB; Notre Dame]
2.) Andrew Jackson [MLB; Western Kentucky]
3.) Shayne Skov [MLB; Stanford]
4.) Kevin Reddick [MLB; North Carolina]
5.) Arthur Brown [MLB; Kansas State]
6.) Tom Wurt [MLB; Oklahoma]
7.) James Morris [MLB/OLB; Iowa]
8.) Bruce Taylor [MLB; Virginia Tech]
9.) Alec Ogeltree [MLB; Georgia]
10.) Patrick Larimore [MLB; UCLA] _________________
