|
|
|
Who are your favorite and least favorite picks from day two of the draft?
Best:
1. Baltimore Ravens - Arthur Brown, LB - Kansas State
Everybody thought he'd be the first inside linebacker off the board going into round 2 - but off come Te'o, Bostic and Alonso leaving it to the Ravens to scoop up the best player available in predictable fashion. Perfect buzzing linebacker presence behind the line of scrimmage filling in the role left by Daniel Ellerbe.
2. Miami Dolphins - Jamar Taylor, CB - Boise State
Had a 1st round grade on the guy, so a little bit of a surprise to see him land at 54. Miami gets great value here - the best back pedal of any corner in the draft outside DJ Hayden. He's an old-school pass defender.
3. Houston Texans - DJ Swearinger, S - South Carolina
Swearinger is a mean dude and the Texans are able to land the tough Safety at the end of the 2nd round. He'll bring some much needed toughness to that secondary - better athlete and much higher playing IQ than many think.
4. Detroit Lions - Larry Warford, G - Kentucky
The War Daddy lands into Detroit's lap in the 3rd round. I had a high 2nd round grade on him - so it's interesting seeing him fall to a spot after the run on hogs yesterday in the first round. Just a solid pick, he'll start in Detroit for 10 years.
5. New York Jets - Brian Winters, G - Kent State
Not a huge fan of what they're doing so far, but this pick knocked it straight down the fairway for the Jets. They want to run the football, they need to run that ball and Winters is a significant upgrade on the gaping hole at Guard.
Worst:
1. New England Patriots - Duron Harmon, S - Rutgers
Excuse me whilst I don't play the 'Bill's the smartest guy in the room' card for the 2nd year in a row. I'll leave that there...
2. Denver Broncos - Kayvon Webster, CB - South Florida
Maybe this will turn out to be one of those 'we knew something you didn't' kind of picks, but Webster seemed like a late-round pick with some upside before the draft - but he certainly isn't a better prospect that say BW Webb who's still on the board.
3. Seattle Seahawks - Christine Michael, RB - Texas A & M
I know Seattle fans probably don't mind this pick and it's difficult to criticize that front-office with the way they've killed the draft of late. He's a bad dude now, but I just don't see the fit with Beast Mode and Robert Turbin, two power backs already in the fold. Lot of issues going on with Michael too - bit of a headcase.
4. Buffalo Bills - Kiko Alonso, LB - Oregon
Don't mind the player so much, but to me he's a down hill banger in a 3-4. He's not particularly smart or a fluid athlete and certainly not a better prospect than Arthur Brown. Bit of a reach here.
5. Carolina Panthers - Kawann Short, DT - Purdue
This would be a decent pick if Carolina hadn't taken Star in the 1st. I just can't believe that team only had its defensive tackle powition to sort and Short takes too many plays off for my liking.

I liked it. I was really worried the Steelers were going to take him.
Then they took a different RB that gives me no fear at all. I laughed at there pick. _________________

It's great if it pans out, but I suspect he dropped because of durability concerns. |

I probably would have taken Bell over Lacy, although I would have taken Franklin over both. Lacy has some durability and work ethic issues. _________________

| How do you feel about the John Jenkins pick or the Terron Armstead pick by the Saints? Both gone in the mid to late 3rd round and were projected to go as high as the late first, but normally in the 2nd. |

Two lists and no Raiders pick under "worst". Such a strange feeling. _________________

He was up there for me as well. I was deciding between him, Swearinger, and Brown for the last spot. _________________
