My dad has a f drive for his family pics, i tunes, etc. Clicking on the i tunes icon theres a message that says 'The drive or network connection that the shortcut i tunes refers to is unavailable.' Looking around, there is no f drive anywhere. My dad thinks the McAfee is blocking it, but I doubt that. Do I need to install the f drive? Any other ideas whats going on here? Thanks in advance. _________________ Adopt a Bear:

An antivirus wouldn't block a drive (at least I hope it wouldn't). If it's an internal drive and Windows won't mount it and display it for you in My Computer then either the drive failed, the power or data cable isn't working properly, or Windows is just having one of its usual flake-outs. _________________

Check to see if the drive is connected properly. This is guessing that it's an external drive. Then get rid of MacAfee. It's terrible for your computer. Replace it w/ Microsoft Security Essentials. If it's not an external drive, let me know and we'll take it from there.
I was going to lie to you and say MacAfee was causing it so you'd uninstall and install MSE but I figured I'd go the normal route instead LOL. _________________

Its an external drive. He had me unplug the USB then plug it back in. Its trying to communicate with the computer, but with no luck. We're not sure if its the drive itself(I doubt it) or the computer. He said he would plug the USB in my nieces laptop later to see if it works there. _________________ Adopt a Bear:

I would do that also. It will definitely narrow down where the issue is and make troubleshooting much easier. _________________

When my mom's external drive stopped working. The housing was the problem.
If you plug it in and hold it up to your ear, can you hear the drive spinning? _________________

This, and have you tried plugging it in to another USB port (assuming its a USB drive)? I've had USB ports fail in the past. |
