So who is out there to get if needed? Seen something on tv saying that Packers will pursue a vet qb IF Harrell flops during training camp. Maybe Brett? |

Veteran backup QBs are vastly overrated. IMO. There isn't a single one out there I'd rather have over Harrell and Coleman. _________________

This season they got a good vet backup. One thing that puzzles me about TT on this topic is we already have a young Qb in Rodgers. This team is built to win now. Why waste time developing Qbs for the rest of the league? I wanted Orton, if Rodgers goes down we could've won with him. Harrell? Coleman? It's like TT's looking for the next Tom brady scenario, ain't going to happen. |

Shouldn't we wait and see how Harrell performs this preseason before we declare him a flop? Flynn took some time before he looked good too. _________________

I read that article too, but I laughed. Last thing in the world I would be worried about right now. I certainly would not be looking at McNabb or Garcia either. |

You always have to do everything you can to improve yourself in any way you can. The Eagles had McNabb and Kolb when they signed Vick, for example, which allowed them to trade the other two guys away for draft picks.
But these ancient retreads like Garcia and McNabb aren't going to add much value to the team, certainly not as much as a younger QB with an upside would.
Put me down in the column in favor of picking up Colt McCoy. Living in Texas, I watched him a bunch in college and this guy is a scrapper, a competitor, and a gutsy SOB. Put him in the meeting rooms with Rodgers and M3 and this guy will improve. He already has significant game experience in the NFL, which neither Harrell nor Coleman does.
Harrell has been with the team for two years now, and the backup job is his to claim. But if the team doesn't think he can do the job, it's time to replace him. We can probably keep Coleman on the practice squad for two years if necessary, so I'd sign McCoy to a three year deal. If Coleman looks like he's going to be a player for us, we can trade McCoy to some team that needs a QB. |

You guys all fell for it.
Nah I'm very confident with Harrell at this point. Rather have a guy who knows our system for more than just one TC to fill in for Rodgers for a game or two.
Also if Aaron's out for any serious amount of time were screwed regardless so it doesn't really matter. _________________ Ted brought us Clay

I knew Jeff Garcia wasn't brought up as a serious solution. Last time he saw any real action, he was playing the role of Brett Favre in the UFL.
Graham Harrell has played okay in the limited time he has gotten. He led that game winning drive against the Colts last year. I think he'll be fine as a backup. But if he does stink it up, make a trade. I do like the idea of Colt McCoy as ajhawk5047 brought up. We'll get a good look at Colt in Week 2 of the preseason. _________________

No. Mac seems to be impressed with Harrell and I'm sure he'll love working on Coleman. If we wanted a vet QB, we would have already had one by now.
The "vet QB" is overrated anyways. They're mediocre QBs who are typically older and simply couldn't cut it as a long term starter. _________________
