I'm looking forward to seeing how Ponder develops. Last year there was no training camp, OTA's or any of that stuff because of the lockout.
I'm excited to see Rudolph grow & he'll be the starting TE. Last year I kept asking how come they don't use him more, and this year I'm pretty sure they're going to use him a lot. There's been a lot of comparisons to Gronk.
Also very excited to see how the rookies play eg. (Kali, Smith, Robinson, Childs & Wright).
Seeing Chris Cook get better & better. Last year he was playing great before he got hurt, when he was healthy last season the Vikings secondary wasn't that bad. But once he got hurt that's when their secondary fell apart.
If he can stay out of trouble he's going to be a great, great corner.
I'm excited to see Jared Allen get 25 sacks this year.
Call me crazy, but I think Minny finishes 8-8 or better.
How many games did they lose by less than 7 points?
Week 1 @ SD they were up 17-7 & scored a grand total of 0 points in the 2nd half. They lost 24-17.
Week 2 TB they had a 17-0 lead at the half & got outscored 24-3 in the 2nd half. They lost by 4 points, 24-20.
Week 3 DET they had a 20-0 lead at the half & were outscored 23-3 in the 3rd & 4th. They ended up losing that game by 3 points in overtime. 26-23
Week 4 KC they were losing 7-9 at the half so I thought that was a good thing, but they ended up losing 22-17.
Week 5 ARZ 1st win, 34-10.
Week 6 @ CHI, it wasn't even close they lost 39-10.
Week 7 GB Ponder's first start & they had a 17-13 lead at the half & were outscored 20-10 in the 2nd half. They lost 33-27
Week 8 @ CAR they beat the Panthers 24-21
Week 10 @ GB blowout 45-17.
Week 11 OAK they lost by 6 points to the Raiders 27-21
Week 12 @ ATL they lost 24-14.
Week 13 DEN they lost 35-32
Week 14 @ DET they lost by 6 points 34-28
Week 15 NO crushed 42-10.
Week 16 WAS they won 33-26.
Week 17 CHI they lost 17-13.
They lost 9 games that they were outscored by 7 or fewer points & one game they lost by 10 to Atlanta.
Looking at the Vikes 2012 schedule, it's very favorable.
Week 1 JAX: Def a win-able game.
Week 2: IND: Luck's 2nd career start, another winable game.
Week 3 SF: Tough game,.
Week 4 DET: Tough game, but we can hang with the Lions.
Week 5 TEN: Very win-able game.
Week 6 WAS: RGIII 6th start, I don't know how he'll play, but I think it's a win-able game.
Week 7 ARZ: def another win-able game.
Week 8 TB: Depends what TB team they play last year's team or the team from 2010, but nonetheless another win-able game.
Week 9 SEA: Not sure how Flynn is going to play for the Hawks, but it's a win-able game.
Week 10 DET:
Week 11 CHI:
Week 12 BYE
Week 13 GB: Very Though game.
Week 14 CHI:
Week 15 STL: DEF win-able.
Week 16 HOU: tough, but win-able.
Week 17 GB: Very, Very Tough, but they suck.
P.S. for anybody that has Direct TV's Sunday Ticket
Once it's football season I'll be working every Sunday, so since I already have Sunday Ticket can I watch the replay of the games online anytime I have time? _________________

I had direct tv last year, though, i always just recorded the games to watch them later if i wanted too. i didnt rewatch many games last year. im not familiar with the online options.
Im looking forward to the youth movement, seeing all the new 1st and 2nd year players developing together. especially in the secondary, its been void of talent for years but now all the starters will be players drafted in 2010 or sooner. young playesr with upside, i like it. |

I'm excited to see how our offense plays. Despite our record, our offense wasn't as bad as some made it seem, after all, we did average 21 point a game, which should be good enough to win half of the games. Unfortunately, it was the defense that was giving up closer to 30 points a game.
With the improvement made to the offensive line, our quarterback and receivers all getting a full offseason to practice and get more familiar with the offensive scheme, I think, as a whole, the offense will surprise some people and should score between 21 and 24 points a game, which should be good enough to win 6-8 games. _________________

Obviously, I want to see how Ponder develops as a QB. I feel like alot of people have already written him off as a bust, but I think we've only seen the tip of the iceburg from him. Allthough Percy Harvin is our only good WR, I think we have enough weapons for him to have a good season. I want to see the leadership continue to develop, and the mentality of being a QB, and being under pressure.
Like you said before, Kyle Rudolph has a great chance to really shine this year.
I think Everson Griffen will deliver for us well as a LB. If he starts, I could see a 7-10 sack season (not from just blitzing, but lining up as a DE too on occasion). Dude has a huge ceiling.
Who isn't excited to see Jared Allen take down every QB we play? And we'll get to see if Adrian Peterson will be able to suit up for work early this season, and be effective.
Chris Cook and Josh Robinson solidify our starting CB jobs for years to come. Or if they aren't going to play out of their minds, atleast go out there, know what they are doing, and don't get consistantly burnt by any WR.
Matt Kalil prove to everyone he was the right choice.
Yeah, that may sound like I expect us to be perfect, but really I'm just expecting us to take a few steps in the right direction. _________________

I'm excited to see Ponder to Jerome Simpson, if he's the deep threat we think he is.
I'm excited for Rudolph, Cook, Kalil. I'm interested to see how Greenway rebounds, how Griffen plays at linebacker. _________________

agreed. not so much in seeing Griffen in that role but more so seeing the defense evolve a bit into something a bit more exciting and aggressive. the standard rush 4 and drop 7 just doesnt seem as effective for how sophisticated NFL offenses have become. Having that 5th player who will rush or drop back into coverage should give the defense more flexibility and aggression. That is what im looking forward to seeing. |

I think 8-8 is generous, but I honestly wouldnt be that surprised if we did it, but I dont expect it.
Honestly, I only care about Ponder. Id much rather be a struggling team that cant build a team around Ponder, atleast itd be something different lol. _________________ XBL/PSN: Chainedsniper |

I agree.i dont see this team or defense being bottom 5 as most want to anticipate. problem is, people dont like to make projections that are outside the box, and most predictions are largely rehashing of last year's rankings/statistical success.
I think the Vikings are capable of fielding a top 15 defense, though certain things have to go right obviously. I think the DT and MLB issues are overrated. There will be a heavy rotation at DT and MLB will be filled by Erin Henderson in nickel and dime packages, just like last year.
As for the secondary, where most people have issues with, many seem to ignore the obvious that the secondary was decimated with an injury to Winfield and Cook's personal issues. Throw in players like Griffin, Sanford, and Allen, who shouldnt ever see significant snaps, the unit should be better.
I think Allen is good for a typical 15+ sack season, combined with Griffen in his new role at OLB and the upgrades in the secondary, i think the defense should atleast be formidable. overtime, a premier DT will need to be added, but its not necessary to atleast be competent defensively. |

The one thing I'm excited about is that I don't know what to expect.
You look at almost every position and there's both reasons for hope and reasons for pessimism. I just want to see how players progress individually and as a team from the beginning of the season to the end. _________________

Like most, I am excited to see what the youth movement looks like this season and I hope it allows us a better view of what this team can be going forward.
I do not anticipate anything more then 6 wins but I hope we are at least competitive.
The individuals I am most interested in following include:
Greg Childs- I think that if he is healthy, he could end up being a real gem. Has the size, strength, and experience in the SEC that should allow him to make a relatively quick impact.
Kyle Rudolph- We saw glimpses of Rudys potential last season and this year I'm hoping it shines a little brighter. I think 50 to 60 receptions and 4 to 6 TDs is reasonable if healthy
Everson Griffen- I think he has a chance to be a breakout player this year for the Vikes. I've compared him to Mathias Kiwanuka because of his versatility.
I'm also looking forward to seeing if Erin Henderson can continue to improve at LB and if we can start piecing together something resembling a respectable secondary...Cook and Smith should be the foundation for that going forward |

Josh Robinson as well, should be a huge piece going forward. If the secondary is to get better, I think Robinson will have to be a part of that. He was an early draft selection with elite athleticism. Whether or not Robinson settles into the RCB spot or is the nickel CB of the future, MN really needs to be three deep at CB given that the division is full of prolific passing attacks. |

I don't think it is wise to put such high hopes on Robinson. Marcus McCauley and Asher Allen were both drafted in the 3rd round and never panned out.
He has potential, but I want to see him on the field before expecting him to be anything more than another bust. |
