I decided to start a new topic so members can discuss the sanctions that the NCAA will hand out to Penn State on Monday morning.
Please remember to keep your posts on topic and related to football. This topic is not an excuses to discuss details about Sandusky's crimes. It's also not to be used to discuss crime and punishment in general. Finally, I don't want to see any of the bickering continued from the other topic. If there are any problems, I'll will have to shut down too.

Your post that I removed was trolling. It's perfectly acceptable to discuss how the sanctions will impact recruits, however you can do it without trolling.
If you don't understand our rules, please send me a PM.

As I stated in the previous thread, I think both the NCAA and PSU would be better served by having the Death Penalty given down. _________________

Would make things "cleaner and easier" than say all the scholarship loses and bans, which will kill the program longer than the 2-4 years the DP will set them back by. _________________

If Penn State does get hard with sanctions and their recruits begin to reopen their recruitment I would love for USC to pursue Garrett Sickels. _________________

I think a lot of their players could transfer out. I wouldn't mind Michigan picking up a few. _________________

I know it could be 110% nonsense, but it gives me a little hope.
brenneman and Hack are also strong, but it all depends on tomorrow. _________________

It will depend on the penalties and the new coaching staff's relationship with the recruits. If it's a 3-4 year bowl ban I think it'll be hard for you guys to keep most of your top recruits and to stop guys from transferring out.
Believe me though, I know your pain. It sucked when USC got hit with sanctions and all of our upperclassmen were free to transfer out of the program due to the two year bowl ban. _________________

The death penalty would most certainly set the program back more than 2-4 years. Scholarship losses and bowl bans would hurt recruiting and cripple the depth of the football team, but I see no argument for the death penalty not setting the program back as much as the rumored sanctions. _________________

Still with everything the NCAA can do (Short of stopping the program or revoking Penn State's membership to the NCAA) would be light compared to the department of education.
The problem we run into in this situation is the students. They are not responsible for anything that happened. That said there are several situations where companies were shutdown due to illegal operations.
No matter what happens Penn State is going to have a hard time rebuilding it's image.
I don't want to delve any further as it won't stay on football. _________________ “From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renenwed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.” -- J R R Tolkien LOTR |

The worst part is that we probably won't appeal. This would be the easiest case in the world to appeal because Emmert isn't even consulting the NCAA investigative committee, he's just going off of a report carried out by someone hired by the PSU BoT _________________ I'm a closet Vanderbilt fan.

The feeling is that the NCAA and Penn State are in agreement to what ever is going to be said tomorrow and that there will be no appeal due to this...going to be interesting to say the least. _________________
