I expect the Packers to be Super Bowl Contenders and we Pick in the 28-32 range this year.
Round 1 - William Gholston -DE- Michigan State - This guy stood out when watching film of Worthy. He is a Tall, Long, Strong, Athlete that currently plays DE in a 4-3 but I think he could be a great 5-tech, and become what Mike Neal was supposed to be. Its a "deep" year at DE and some of Gholston's on the field antics could scare some teams away.
Round 2 - Knile Davis -RB- Arkansas - Maybe my favorite RB that could come out this year. Davis will have to prove he can stay healthy though after having a season ending ankle injury last August. I think Davis has good enough vision to run in a ZBS, he cuts better and has better long speed than Starks as well.
Round 3 - Kwame Geathers -NT/DE- Georgia - Geathers is a mountian of a man at 350lbs. He plays the 0-tech in college in the 3-4 that Georgia runs. I can see Geathers taking over for Ryan Pickett when he hangs them up. It would be nice to land Geathers partner in crime Jonathan Jenkins but IMO a big guy who can rush the passer like him will be gone early.
Round 4 - Tanner Hawkinson -OT- Kansas - I'll be honest I havent seen much of Hawkinson play. I thought he was better than a 4th rounder but thats mostly the grades I see handed to him after a down year last year? Anyways, Sherrod is hurt, Bulaga is a beast RT and Newhouse got burned a lot last year. Hawkinson might not be the answer at LT but he might be able to kick inside too if needed.
Round 5 - Tavon Austin -Swiss Army Knife- West Virginia- Austin is a nightmare with the ball in his hands. Just like Cobb he can do a little of everything and if Cobb starts to get more involved in the offense Austin could fill his role as a return man. Austin could also get involved in the screen game out of the backfield some.
Round 6 - Braxton Cave -C- Notre Dame- Let him develope some behind Saturday, more physically gifted than any of the other guys. Had some injuries last year, if he cant stay healthy maybe we stay away from him.
Round 7 - Chase Clement -TE- LSU - We simply dont have enough TE depth on the current Roster. Clement might take Quarless spot if he cant come back healthy. |

I got a few thoughts on this that I will get to later, however, I think you better think of a C sooner than later. Cave is not going to have time to develop behind Saturday. Saturday has almost plainly admitted this is probably his last year and was surprised he got a two year deal. We will see how that plays out, but the way it sounded to me, he seemed to think this was his swan song. |

| Safety is crazy deep this year and I think we need to go that direction. Give us one lineman in the first three rounds and a safety |

Obviously if we cut Peprah they have to be impressed with one of them. |

IDK, I had Ferentz penciled in but I cant justify spending a 3rd or 4th on a guy who is that physically limited. |

Burnett is a top 10 safety when healthy and I think Jennings/McMillian are more athletic and should be able to cover better. They both have learning to do coming from small schools but hopefully with an improved pass rush they can learn a little faster. IMO it just cant get worse than last year. |

So if that's the way you feel about him why would you consider him a 3rd or 4th round value? Draft site hype or your personal evaluation? Center is not a draft heavy position and those types you describe fall to the 5th or lower. Here is where thinking through the prospect is better than going on draft site evaluations
I'm not saying a high pick is needed either, just thinking may want to check FA or an internal option for next year, or look for a NFL ready G that can translate to C. Lots of outside the box options. |

In the limited times I have watched Michigan State play, and I'm talking like a 1/4 here and there, Gholston looked to be the best player on the field, and by a long shot. One of the few times a guy has stood out to me that much. _________________

I'm not trying to mock you but when did Burnett turn into a top 10 safety. Then you say Jennings and McMillan should be able to cover better. How in the heck do you know that. You have an undrafted rookie and a 4th rounder that the so called experts say was a reach at best, and you have convincwed yourself they are the real deal. Charles may have to be a full time safety just to avoid getting burned every other play. I'm not saying Jennings and McMillan are going to be bad but how in the heck does anyone know. Unwarranted enthusiasm at best. |

Unwarranted enthusiasm at best. | Watch Burnett play when he is healthy. The hand obviously hurt his INT total and his abiltiy to tackle somewhat. Plus since you seem to know that he for sure isn't a top 10 safety put up 10 that are better than him. It took Nick a couple of years to really hit his stride as an elite safety but I expect Morgan to improve a bunch in the mental aspect of the game this year. I am very confident that McMillian or Jennings will be able to at least at Charlie Peprah level which at the end of the year was pretty bad. And I love that McMillian was a "reach", why because Todd McShay who watched a whopping 3 tapes of Jerron, didn't give him a 4th round grade. Back in the day Nick Collins was a "reach" too, same with Greg Jennings. Until I am proven wrong I will have 100% confidence that Ted took the right player that fits what we do, so in my eyes I have no reason to think McMillian can't start at safety and play well there. |

Some of Gholstons on the field antics, could drop him some. |

Iv'e watched Morgan play and he's not top 10.
No particular order but top safeties. NOT potential
1. Troy P
2. Ed Redd
3. Adrian Wilson
4. Berry
5. Whitner
6. Landry
7. Rolle
8. Harper
9. Chancellor
10. George Wilson
11. Atogwe
12. Manning
13. Griffen
14. Goldson
15. Phillips
16. Jenkins
17. Earl
18. Weddle
19. Byrd
20. Morgan
I would put him in the 15-20 range and thats being.
Its way to hard to predict how well McMillan will do. NFL is a huge leap for him. So little tape to watch of him idk. Like you said trust in TT but I still believe we need a safety in 2013. |
