Odds? If I knew Osprey's real name and address I would consider warning his neighbors. |

I'm really glad I've seen it, if you know that fact going in it pretty much would ruin the entire movie. |
I guess I hated the film so much, that I really didn't even consider that a plot spoiler. In any case, I'll fix it. sorry. |
I feel like its a movie that a lot of horror fans don't like because it points out how dumb most horror movies are.
And for the record,
| Quote: | | The entire point of the movie is that horror movie audiences are the gods, and if you don't make a movie exactly like every other horror movie (where a bunch of good looking young people get killed one by one, make horrible decisions and the virgin/good girl is the last alive) the audiences/gods freak out and can't handle it. |
As a non-horror movie fan I thought it was just hilarious and awesome. |
I couldn't disagree more. I'm a huge horror film fan, but other than a handful of American films made over the past 10 years, the genre is pretty much dead. I actively look for original horror films and most of them nowadays seem to come from overseas. Originality is great, as long as it doesn't get cheesy. This film was completely cheesy. It was almost bordering on comedic, which I think should be completely separate from horror. In my mind, horror and comedy are two genre's which should never interact. That final scene for me, went way, way, way over the line. It was just ridiculous.
If the filmmaker was trying to make a statement about the genre and it's fans, he should have at least taken it seriously and not presented us with a bunch of cheese, disguised as a horror film. I was looking for something original and true to the genre. Instead, it was just another hokey impersonation. To me, it was like he was trying to insult his audience. |
It was supposed to be comedic... That's why I liked it. |
I guess that's where we differ. I went into it thinking it was gonna be some innovative horror film. If I would've known it was gonna be a horror-comedy, I would've never even bothered watching it. I felt cheated, because the trailers marketed it as a straight forward horror film. |
I didn't like the movie but I understood what it was trying to do. It was comedic to show how stupid most horror movies are. If you think about it what happens in the movie actually happens in like 90% of horror movies. With the exception of Ospeys weird torture foreign films. |
At least they follow an original format. They may be graphic, but when looking at films like Martyrs, Strange Circus and The Human Centipede, you come away knowing that you've seen nothing else like them. I look for films that are either truly original or at least, very well made. When it comes to the American horror genre, I can find neither, lately. It's mostly the same regurgitated format, over and over or films like Cabin in the Woods, which are just poorly made, mis-advertised crap. |
I'm willing to bet Ospey tortures people, anyone want in on that? |

Watching Boogie Nights on HBO for the 294194th time, really wish I didn't have to turn on the Jets game in 5 minutes and see them get killed.
Having just seen Robert Altman's Short Cuts and the Player like a week ago, it just hit me how much this movie has Altman's influence all over it. _________________

Hotel Transylvania
Better then I expected. Nothing great, but a solid story, a few laughs for the older folks, a lot of laughs for my kids.

Finally watched The Hunger Games today. It was an interesting story. I didn't read any of the books so I'm not sure if it was well done in relation to them though. _________________
