Getting into Hitchcock. Ironicaly right after Halloween
Watched:
Rope
Psycho
The Birds
Got these as well, but havn't watched them yet:
Strangers on a Train
Rear Window
Vertigo
North By Northwest
Rope is a really underrated movie. Enjoyed it almost as much as Psycho.
Any other essential Hitchcock I need to add to the collection? _________________

Just finished watching the Sting. I'd seen it when I was probably like 12 on a small little TV, so it was basically my first time seeing it. Easily one of the best movies of the 70s, on par with the Godfathers and any of Kubrick's films.

I loved Rope, one of the few movies that's pretty much 100% dialogue but doesn't have a single dull moment. Jimmy Stewart is definitely on my very short list of favorite all time actors.
Rear Window, Vertigo and North by Northwest are all phenomenal as well. Rear Window is a little like Rope in that its small scale and claustrophobic (plus its got Stewart), Vertigo is more mysterious and psychological and North by Northwest is more of an action-adventure, with some of the most iconic chase scenes ever.
I went through a Hitchcock phase a little while ago, saw all the ones you mentioned except the Birds and Strangers on the Train. Those two and Shadow of a Doubt are the next on my Hitchcock list.

The other week me and a friend saw Argo at 10 am (to get the matinee prices; $7 instead of $13 and change) and then the Master at 1. The life of the unemployed _________________

But to have it above the movies you do is, quite frankly, a joke. _________________

Rope is fantastic. I've only seen it once--a while back, but I've been wanting to watch it again for several years now, but never got my hands on it again or made the effort to do so.
Personally, I'm a big fan of Spellbound, but Rebecca is generally considered on of his finest too. Rebecca is probably also one you should watch.
A little different from his others, but thoroughly entertaining, To Catch A Thief is a good one too. _________________ Top 50 Franchise Cornerstones (2012) - COMPLETED! |

it's a great movie. but the 70s is a great decade
Without a doubt I'd put these above it
French Connection
Aguierre, Wrath of God
Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoise
Solaris
Badlands
Chinatown
Dog Day Afternoon
Cuckoo's Nest
Taxi Driver
Network
Deer Hunter
Days of Heaven
Apocalypse Now
Alien
ahead of it.
and that's not really insulting it _________________ DIAF |
