[GDT] Week 1 - Giants vs Cowboys [NFL Kickoff!]

I know I'm really early on this one, and that we still have to go through the motions this Wednesday against the Pats... but I couldn't resist. I have a little time to kill at work today and figured I would get this up early.

Last year we swept this team, and I think we have a good shot at doing it again in 2012. They are a big reason for our 2nd incredible Super Bowl run in the past 5 years, and 4th in franchise history. That blocked field goal was the start of something special, even though most of us didn't see it at the time. The ball FINALLY started to bounce our way and we started to get healthy.

This year we have a chance to start off on the right foot while simultaneously delivering an early divisional loss to arguably our stiffest competition in the NFCE. It might only be "just one game", but it is a chance to make a statement. NY has been vastly overlooked by many this season and it would oh so sweet to come out and really put a whopping on a rival.

We could be catching them at the perfect time. Jason Witten is Romo's most reliable target, and he very well could miss the game due to a spleen injury sustained against Oakland. If he is unavailable, we have leg up on them. Especially when it comes to defending them on 3rd down in passing situations.

There is also the new "Dez Rules" that are being tested out. The mercurial young WR has a major issue when it comes to maturity. He is their most dyanmic offensive player, so lets hope these new rules involved a bed time that is before kickoff. Wink

Couldn't resist. The whole situation is an embarassment.

NT Jay Ratliff is another uncertainty for Dallas. He is dealing with an ankle sprain that could hold him out of the opener. I don't doubt they will miss his presence if that is the case.

We are not without our own questions here in NY.

Hakeem Nicks missed basically the whole preseason with a broken foot. I think we are all hopeful that he will suit up week 1, but how effective will he be? He is our best WR and we will need him against their improved secondary.

Prince Amukamara has a high ankle sprain. I don't think any amount of ice baths is going to get him ready for this game. We might just be short handed in the secondary. Luckily our DL has a way of covering up deficiencies in the secondary.

We also know we won't see Chris Canty until October at the earliest. While Joseph has become our best DT, Canty really mucks things up for QBs trying to pass in the pocket.

I like how we match up and when we are catching them. I think we should be around 6pt favorites. Again, it is early but I'll go 27-20 Giants.

Remember that play in the beginning of our first meeting last year? The one where Eli DRILLED Newman right in the chest. He dropped the easiest pick 6 in his life.

This year we have guys who will actually catches those horrid throw by manning.

Pretty funny I made this GDT before we even created one for our next game. That Wednesday meeting with the Pats is all but worthless. I suppose the one interesting item is that Nicks will be playing in the game. To me that game is nothing more than a chance to let our #1WR test out his legs.
